Memphis and Jackson are just where the interviews are took/taking place. Not sure it has anything to do with where someone was recruited. Not uncommon, I guess, for interviews to take place in out-of-the-way locations.

Jackey Turner is a physician in Oxford if that's who you mean.

Jackie Thurnes is what I wrote down - looks like I inadvertently omitted the "h" when using my phone last night.

Hers is a name that everyone should be aware of because she was around, she's now heavily involved and she is supposed to be a bulldog once the lead investigators think they have something very substantial.

Wait wasn't she involved in the Cam Newton case? Seem to remember that name.

Jackie's been in and out of Oxford and an enforcement agent or something. If I recall, she's been involved for four years. I can make some calls and find out for sure what her role is and if it's increased recently.

Yeah, do that and get back with us.

In short, yes she's been involved in the case for a while but she has been pressing harder and instigating a lot of what has transpired the past few months. She's hell bent on catching us for a major violation and watching us burn.

ETA: No super secret inside source spilling any secrets so take it with a grain of salt, but that's what I was told and they were instantly familiar with the name when I asked.

Are there still people out there who think we'll get off easy? Because they're dilutional as hell. We're about to get hammered.

From what I was told she is on a bit of a mission because of something she was involved with between MSU and Ole Miss six or seven years ago ... something I guess she felt someone skated-by with, and now she's out for blood evidently. I wrote down "PLOI" but I cannot remember why or which one used the term ... so don't ask me what it means but it is a reference to some history with Thurnes.

FWIW I hear she is a nice lady, all business, and she's good at what she does.

PLOI .... is that anything to do with Michael Orr? I'm just reaching here.

This whole saga surrounding the team we root for is sorta like the stock market. Don't follow this every day, it will only bum you out. Just get away from it, don't study it, there's nothing you can do about it. There have been 33 bear markets and 33 bull markets. It will all come back around one day.

So from what you've been told, she's waging a personal vendetta against a football program with an entirely new staff based on a situation that involved two football programs six years ago? And after four years of investigating, she can only come up with nitpicky stuff in the NOA?

She doesn't sound nice at all. She sounds emotionally driven, unprofessional, and completely ineffective at her job.

Hugh Freeze (and the entire athletic department by association) made a mistake by their attempt to "comply by exemplary standards". Either by naivete or hubris, they essentially did the equivalent of letting the police into your home without supervision to build a case around you.

Now they have an infestation of NCAA, reluctant to leave until they "finish their investigation".

If I was Hugh Freeze, I would frame everyone on the defensive staff for providing improper benefits. That way, he doesn't technically have to fire them (because he wouldn't anyway) and the NCAA would get the pound of flesh that they desperately seek and the matter would be sorted out more quickly since I suspect that the delay is the result of the lack of credible leads being tossed to the investigators (thanks, Steve).

Take the scholarship reduction and possible bowl ban since a bowl game isn't guaranteed with Taylor Youngbloods starting on the defense anyway and allow the ESPN talking heads to mix Ole Miss into discussions with universities such as Penn State and Baylor and other cases that almost received the same scale of treatment by the NCAA.

Loaner cars, booster transportation, rape. It's all the same to the NCAA.

Evidently they care little about academic fraud though ... the UNC case is outrageous.

I really appreciate think this has something to do dating back to Orr and when Freeze was still coaching in Memphis and something they must have stumbled across in that time frame that maybe she feels he got away with ... and now they think they're going to get their chance to get him on something.

Now, that's just an assumption on my part and I may be overreaching based upon what I was told .,. but there is some reading-between-the-lines to be done here. There are dots to be connected.

Anyways, my Ole Miss family members are just wishing it would get overwith one way or the other ... and I am too. They've dragged this crap out too long and it is becoming costly on several levels now. This is not a "speedy" process and that's not cool.

The difference between UNC and the other schools hit recently vs OM , is that they didn't bend over and beg the NCAA to wreck that arse like we are. I'm afraid they're going to make an example of us, simply because we're letting them. I hope I'm wrong, but our lack of a spine has me both worried and embarrassed.

I have to agree. I think we should have found the best lawyers money could buy and shut the door in NCAA face. It's like we welcomed them to come on in like the neighbors little kid, who you know is going to plunder in every drawer in your house just being nosy. Even if you think you have every step covered and they could find nothing, you still don't welcome them in you're house with arms held wide open. They will dig!
