BTW I appreciate you actually being able to talk it out without the name calling
I may not always agree with everything people say and im not afraid to say what I do/dont agree with but I do try to keep it respectable.

True enough but I feel like it's a little different when it comes to race.
Again IMO nobody is ever gonna agree on everything. The higher ups just have to do what they think is best. But that doesnt mean that if i dont agree that i just have to abandon my position and follow like a sheep.
I will say how i feel but no matter what happens the school will still get my support and i will still attend 2-3 games a year and i will still cheer for the Red and Blue.

I can agree with you here. People are reacting like someone is forcing something so terrible upon them that they have to go along with.

Many people close to the University have known this for several months. The article and report don't tell all that is happening. Dan Jones and Ross Bjork don't want this out yet but the modified version of From Dixie with love is going to be phased out completely within the next 4 years.
First things first, do you have any evidence of this, or are we just supposed to take your word for it.

They contacted David Wilson and told him that this is happening and the end of the 4th year and they want the band to take the blame saying they just don't fell right performing it anymore. Wilson will not take the blame though. This is all on Dan Jones and Ross Bjork. Crazy fans, Frats, etc need to point blame at the right people here.
Secondly, the "crazy fans, frats, etc" ARE TO BLAME FOR THIS. The university wouldn't have to do anything about FDWL if people didn't chant TSWRA after it. Come the frick on, man.

By Berkeley's standards, Ole Miss is still incredibly conservative. It's one of the most conservative major universities in the United States.
If you think OM is liberal, then you need to get out more. Sure, it's more liberal than the rest of Mississippi, but compared to other college campuses it's very conservative.

Why do we have to make a big deal about our past when Alabama, who also needed National Guard assistance to segregate their institution, gets a pass?
Are Alabama students putting nooses on statues of Civil Rights Era leaders?
Look, I get it. It's unfair that Ole Miss has become the national whipping boy for civil rights in higher education. Those are the cards we've been dealt. There isn't a fricking thing we can do to change it, so it's best for us to play these cards smartly instead of acting like petulant children with regards to the changes we have to make.

That's some bullshite entitlement complex on par with feminism.
You're a white person calling a black person "entitled?" Wow.
quote:
I take no responsibility for any crime or unethical behavior committed by a white person, specifically a Mississippian or Mississippi resident, since our State's founding.
You're mistaken if you think that anybody's asking you to take responsibility. Acknowledging the past and understanding its meaning in a modern context isn't at all an acknowledgement of guilt. I don't know why so many white conservatives think this is the case, because it isn't.

I honestly can't believe some on here are comparing Ole Miss to Nazi Germany. Is this real life? Old Reich University? Really?

The pieces don't belong together. "Dixie" and "Battle Hymn of the Republic" are musically and politically right for each other. It was a song about regional and national pride coexisting, but some kids thought it was about sticking it to the administration, and now it's gone.

It's a song by a fat guy who died on the toilet.

Right.
I'm rustled and, in an effort to not make any enemies on this forum I love so much, I will no longer discuss this topic.
