Yeah I don't see us getting Gary. Mique maybe.

Is he that good?
He is "okay" compared to NCM, DK, or AJ. He is a smaller Drake Davis without the (read as unpolished) height nor the 4.4 blow the top off speed. Goes to a really small school in lower LA so it's not as though he is competing against the Calvarys, WM or JC. Watching his HUDL from this year left me saying "he is okay but....."

Even if Ole Miss landed just Juarez or Gary, it would become the first program ever to land three of the top-5 of @Rivals 100 players.
God damn

Don't want to sound greedy, but I want 'em all.

MJ is actually the kind of guy we need to compliment DK. A lightning quick slot guy.
Posted on 1/4/16 at 11:15 pm to LandBearShark
That's the problem, he isn't a stop on a dime and back at full speed 2 steps later guy. Not does it look like he has "elite" speed (he is fast but not a 4.3-4.4 fast).

Bama board saying A.J. is 50/50 Bama/MSU
Simmons will sign with Ole Miss
Knott is all over the board.
They have a back-up for Carter if Carter does not sign with Bama.
MJ no longer interested in Bama. They see MJ as a pure athlete.

I just watched Mykel Jones's highlights and I agree. He doesn't seem to have great straight line speed or be super shifty. But he is pretty good. I'd definitely take him if we can't land either NCM or AJ Brown and wouldn't mind taking him if we only got one of those two
Eta: so basically I would take him
I also agree that we could use a shifty slot guy. We have size, and straight line speed, but lack a shifty slot receiver IMO. I thought at times this year that our corners struggle with shifty WRs and our lack of shifty WRs to practice against could play a role in that but I'm probably looking into it too much

Ok I need an update. I've been out of the loop. If NSD was tomorrow who do we feel good about?
Percent chances on Juarez and Gary?
Is Davis's recruitment over with?
Is the pressure too much that we are out of it with AJ?
What O lineman do we have left on our board?
Appreciate the info!

Gary 50%
Juarez 50%
Davis isn't over yet, but we have a few backups. Mainly Nate Craig-Myers and Mykel Jones.
AJ is Bama or State. We are third.
O-Line: Willie Allen, Gentle Williams, and Royce Newman.
We feel good about Jeffrey Simmons.

Based on what exactly? What Gary told DM? Its going to be hard to get Juarez from UCLA and Gary from his mom.

Based on being in their top 2
Personally I don't think we get either one, but being in their top two is always a good step forward for a program.

2nd place really sucks in recruiting.

So Van Jefferson redshirted. Everyone knows his routes are nearly perfect. Do y'all think he is a slot receiver or out wide?

I think a great route runner can make a Defense miserable out of the slot. If he can fill out his frame and has "quicks" he may be a weapon on our offense. What I have heard is his routes are near perfect and he has some of the best hands on the team. My question is how fast is he?

Yeah, I don't think we get Juarez or Gary, but you never know. Thought the same thing about Tunsil until about a week before signing day. I still hope somehow we pull Drake Davis back to us, but I doubt it. NCM I think stays in Florida at UF or FSU. Don't care who the leaders are now, think he stays in state with his brother. Mykel Jones could be a great addition. He doesn't have the raw tools some of these other guys had, but neither did Vince Sanders and he was a very good receiver for us. As for AJ Brown, I think most of the people here hope he goes to Bama over state, but I'd much rather him go to State. We really are at that point where we need to be focused on Bama and LSU as opposed to State. State is never going to have the talent needed to win the west, so them getting 1 great player each class doesn't really hurt us. IF you add AJ Brown to the receiving core that Bama already has, and give them a gunslinger like Blake Barnett, that makes them extremely tough. I'd rather AJ go to State and play with sub par talent and hopefully we'll have Shyheim Carter to cover him for the next 3 years.

Just tried to looked up Van Jefferson's 40 time and couldn't find it....however his shuttle was listed as sub 4 which is SMOKING.
I really would like to get the LB since we have whiffed at those lately. In regards to Brown, would love to have him but I have to agree I would rather him go to State. They are really starting to fall behind on the talent level and I highly doubt their 2 QBs are the second coming of Dakus....plus their OL (starters & depth) are really hurting.

They can have Brown if we can have Simmons.
