Didn't know that was a thing I'll check it out. This week should be a good test for him practicing against Benito, Simmons, and Davis

Eli is freakish strong. He won the bench press competition at the AA game last year. He should be a good one. I love how our center transitions look for the next 6 years. I saw Yancy had a bunch of vines up. Is that where you saw them?

Question about Eli johnson. He is listed as the #4 center in the country but he plays tackle In high school... How does that work?

He played center in the AA game when he was a junior is a little of how they projected him. To be honest, his dad being who he is puts him in the spot light a little more than other kids who are centers, but that doesnt mean he is any lesser of a player. He will be Freeze's best run blocking center with Conyers and Rawlins being a little more athletic.

No.

Barton Simmons has been putting up vines of the 1 on 1 OL vs DL drills. Just so happened to catch a couple of him going against Kobe Jones.

From the bama board:

quote:

- Ole Miss commit Octavious Cooley didn't catch a lot of balls on Tuesday but when they did come his way, he flashed. He's in the 6-3 to 6-4 range as a tight end but he has enormous hands and is much more sudden than you would expect based on body-type. He wants to visit Mississippi State and Alabama before signing day.

If we lose Cooley, I'll be pissed.

On AJ Brown

quote:

Four-star WR A.J. Brown of Starkville (Miss.) High remains a long way away from making his decision. Brown (6-2, 220) does have an official visit set up at the end of January with Ole Miss. Most, if not all of his trips, will be next month. Miami, California, Tennessee and Florida also are in the hunt, but everyone seems to be chasing hometown Mississippi State. Brown is both fast and physical, and has soft hands.

quote:

"I'm kind of nervous," Brown said. "(I'm) talking to my coaches about it. I'm kind of nervous about choosing a school. I don't want to make the wrong choice."

Five of the top 10 players in Mississippi's class of 2016 (according to the 247Sports rankings) are uncommitted. College coaches aren't the only ones selling pitches to the 6-foot-2, 220-pound receiver. He's even hearing it from his teammates during the week of practices for the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Game.

"DeKaylin Metcalf and Jordan Duncan. Ole Miss and Cal," Brown said laughing. "They joke all the time and say I need to come join them. I mean, (I'm) thinking about it but I'm just not ready."

On January 2nd, Brown will play in the Under Armour All-America Game with fellow uncommitted Mississippian Nigel Knott and Ole Miss pledge Benito Jones. While the four-star wide out doesn't have a commitment date set, he could know where he's headed by the time he suits up in Orlando.

"By then I'll probably tell the school where I'm going but I wouldn't tell the press by then," he said.

...

Alabama has an in-home visit scheduled with Brown on Dec. 13. Despite a pull from in-state programs, the Crimson Tide is still very much in the picture.

"Alabama is Alabama," he said. "They're in the playoffs now. That's a winning program. I love what Coach (Nick) Saban does and I have a great relationship with (wide receivers) Coach (Billy) Napier. They put receivers in the league. You really can't just turn that down."

On Simmons:

quote:

The talk from Mississippi is that Macon defensive end Jeffery Simmons is unblockable. He was a sack machine this year and mentioned Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Tennessee as schools most involved. Look for an update on Simmons this week. It looks like he'll battle Tuscaloosa County's Adam Raschilla (WKU commit) or Auburn's Tyler Pritchett (North Carolina commit) mostly. Alabama commit Deonte Brown was lined up as a left guard in the morning.

Neal had a rival's scout that has been at the practices come onto the podcast and it was interesting getting his perspective since he is unbiased.

-He likes DK more than AJ due to size and speed
-Raekwon and Benito stand out the most on the DL
-Eli, Gentle, and Lashley were getting killed by MS DL at first but by the end of the day they were holding their own and all looked like SEC OL.
-Nigel is an athletic freak but will not start for anyone next year. Plays corner like he's never played the position before
-Nigel was going to just flip a coin for Bama and FSU back in Sept. but decided to wait to commit. Guy thinks hes Bama all the way.
-MS DL will kill Bama's OL
-Thinks AJ stays in state and Bama is out, and expects him to commit to State.

Gentle is quite possibly the worst name for an OL

He is going to either be a complete pussy or a terrorizing mauler... there will be no in-between

Does it sound to anyone else like AJ has zero desire to play at State? Just seems from what ive read him say that he wants out but the pressure is too tough.
