The problem I have with Luke isn't the personnel, it's the scheme. You just cannot have overly fat and slow lineman pulling and expect it to work. He never changed from what he wanted to do and kept jamming the square into the circle spot.

Maybe that's because Luke's guys can't beat out Nutt's fat asses. We've just had his fourth oline class. How many does he need?

Tunail, still, Conyers, cooper, & Taylor are all luke's guys. Basically, you mean two redshirt freshman 3 star OG's couldn'the beat out A Morris and Bell.

Offensive linemen not named tunsil shouldn't be starting until their rs sophomore year.
This season should tell is the one where we truly figure out if Luke is the right guy.

The scheme has changed now. No idea what it got changed to but they at least acknowledged that this scheme isn't working. Freeze said they studied lots of others, so we will see.
I was not a fan of the Luke hire in the beginning because of scheme. He came from a pro style system at Duke. How the hell was that suppose to work here in the spread. That's not on Matt, but on Freeze. He chose a worker who will never leave over someone with experience in the spread. My admiration has grown though becuase no one works harder on the staff. When we lost the egg bowl last yeAr no one took it harder than that man.
As far as his guys not beating out Nutt's, as I said, his first year he had zero of his own guys. That didn't mean starters but total. His second year he brought in 4 kids, one is an AA, another transferred, the other two RS. So in year two out of the four kids he recruited for a year and signed, two played as freshman and two red shirted. In year three he brought in a juco, a 5 star and two kids who RS. The JUCO, AA, and 5 star he recruited did beat out Nutt's kids. The only ones who haven't were red shirted. So your beef with Luke is that redshirt freshmen can't beat out 5th seniors.

And Conyers was a rs sophomore and seemed pretty solid to me.

I agree. I think this year we should expect more from Sims, Bouldin, Johnson. Johnson and Bouldin are in year three this year. They probably aren't starters but should be able to give us something in a backup role. Let's have a fresh Justin Bell, Rod Taylor, and Tunsil in the 4th and see how it changes things.

I also hope he is fresh in the 4th

So I'm hearing here at ICC that Malik Newman is considering us if he doesn't qualify. I mean I know teams can find a way to get the kid qualified, so that's not really my question. But if he did go to a community college, could he go straight to the NBA after?

Interesting. I mean I've never seen it happen so I wasn't sure if it was possible.

Anybody seen Sims? Is he down any weight?

DK Metcalf is no longer a 5*

I need to find a cliff to jump off of.

I'm pretty sure he wouldn't go to a community college and leave millions of oveseas dollars on the table. He is friends and played AAU ball with Emmanuel Mudiay who didn't fully qualify at first and went overseas. Mudiay is still projected as a top 5 pick. His dad is all about building Malik's brand so I can't see him going that route.

247 Still has him the #2 WR. I think it is scout that dropped him a bit

Everything will change when these kids go to combines and camps this summer.

Not sure how they can drop DK. I mean I would have thought his rankings would go up considering how his season Jr. turned out.
Also hearing that the Bama homers along the Western boarder of Mississippi are pushing hard at Cooley and Benito (als wouldn't be surprised if Benito's recruitment ends up being a lot like a LB from Brookhaven turned out last year)
