FWIW most of the posters on the OM247 site are the writer, David Johnson's sons friends most of whom are teenagers. .

2. If Banks was rumored to be ineligible, you guys damn sure would talk about it. Stop acting like when things happen with us, you bitches arent all over it. Constant chatter about Quay Evans, Nick James, and other recruits we had last season were rampant by you Bears.

We may care a little but it's no where near the same. Think about it. You yourself start more OM threads than State threads and that's a fact. Which OM poster does that? OM fans lurk on the free site six pack because out of the 20 threads at least 5 will be about OM. State fans lurk on a paid OM board to read about OM. We care about what goes on at state but no where near the level you guys obsess at.

Edit: also Golson isn't even a starter, while Banks is your best player on your entire team. Nice analogy

3. Your beat writer on 247 has a constant article about Kalio and whether he has taken a shite for the day or not- a player that is committed to us. Our 247 guy doesnt do articles on players that are committed to you guys.

First off, if it weren't for state fans I would have never heard of this guy. Y'all know more about Yancy and some guy who I've already forgotten his name than OM fans. Secondly, him being a state commit means as much as RN being a Clemson commit and you know it. I'm sure he doesn't keep up with how many shits Deon Mix takes a day or any other DD that is committed to y'all. It's different because we have a legit shot at him.

Isn't it natural (re)action from State fans that lived the "rivalry" pre-1991? It makes sense for them to be more obsessive over OM than vice versa(among similar age groups), seeing how State was basically humiliated by OM for 50 years in football.

The nature of the rivalry is alot more even-keel among the younger age groups that never lived through a real phase of dominance either way IMO. The kids graduating HS now(that aren't predisposed to a bias) never knew either of us as dominant over the other in football(for you) or baseball(for us).

OM was much better in the 90's then they were in the 70's and 80's. Anyone that was use to OM killing state is far to old to be on message boards

We won 6 of 10 in the 90's.
3 of 10 in the 80's.
2 of 10 in the 70's(after the 2 forfeits).

Overall, we went 4-14 in Jackson officially(6-12 on the field), including losing 7 of the last 8 before Jackie(the same year the game moved back to campus in 1991).

We still got dominated through those years, regardless of how good your team actually was or wasn't. Almost no State fans were alive the last time we won a decade from you prior to Jackie's run(the 1920s)...

So are you admitting the reason state fans act the way they do is because they feel inferior? They act insane when things flip around because they're not accustomed to it? Is that what you're saying?

Dealing with older State fans(the ones contributing "most" of the money still), absolutely that's what I'm saying. That was the mindset that literally ran our university until 2008. The "poor us" approach.

Same reason Stansbury got to stick around until the basketball program was run completely into the ground. Same reason Polk got to run the baseball program into the ground(and yes, despite the lucky 2007 run, it was DEMOLISHED). His lack of recruiting and dishonesty with recruits literally allowed the OM baseball powerhouse to be born(a story for another day). Nevermind what Jackie did to the football program at the end.

The fear of "this being the best we've been before" holding back the idealism of "we can be much better" has driven the university in the past, and also mired it in mediocrity forever.

This is a rallying point that Foglesong/Keenum/Mullen/Byrne/Stricklin/Cohen were smart enough to figure out and change. Younger State fans(35 and under) generally feel completely different about things, and the results have been completely different in our lifetimes, reaffirming those beliefs...

I disagree with engie somewhat. I know that in my case and many guys I know my age- its just a case of hating your rival. I have never for one second felt inferior to Mississippi. The football rivalry has been pretty even throughout my lifetime.

I had the chance to go to Mississippi out of HS. Jake Gibbs asked me to walk-on. State did not. I chose to go to JC instead of walking on at Mississippi. The school, the town, and its people are just not for me.

What?

The difference in the football series was Johnny Vaught. His record vs State is what separates the rivalry- pre Vaught, we more than held out own.

State led the series 24-17-2 when Vaught was hired
