Can we win the bye week? Season on the ropes. Need to avoid practice injuries. Need to prep backup qb for at least a series or two.
Haven’t seen odds posted yet.

Hmm missed the online poll but here are my answers.
*62.2% don’t want change at head coach
Good recruiting classes so far and a championship caliber defense so give BV another year. If we get a Great OC and pay for a great proven QB maybe we can finally be a balanced team. Kick whoever thought BV needed an extension this year in the GD Nuts.
*71.8% want change at quarterback
RRR is a Hot fire to throw a backup that has little play time at OU into the starting position. Start Mateer in the RRR and if he chokes play Newbauer and Bently the rest of the year but still give Mateer some reps if he gets his confidence back.
*76.9% want change to offensive staff
YES possibly keep the RB and TE coach cut fricking bait with the rest.
*473 variations of the f-bomb used. Now 474

Agree on the start Mateer on RRS. But only because Arbuckle and Brent did not give Whitt any reps in GA game. Seems intentional to me so they would not have fans clamoring for Whitt and if Whitt had come in and did well it makes them look bad. They are in job retention mode right now.
Mateer gives us the best chance to win. If he can play good with no turnovers, stay in pocket, make the right reads, throw the ball on target, and make correct RP decision - we can win. And the season narrative would flip on a dime.
3-2 with won over #1 and loss to #2 and a road loss to Michigan - all the sudden the season isn’t lost yet. It might be later but with only those 2 losses we’d at least have a week to week chance to do something.

I feel like a better strategy would be 'start Neubauer in OU/TX and if he stumbles, put Mateer in" just to let Mateer watch from a different perspective and if he sees Whitt make mistakes - that might help his confidence, which is absolutely shot to smithereens right now.

That likely backfires. If Whitt does bad then it destroys his confidence. Had they given Whitt live reps vs GA at least this would be an option. But cold turkey isn’t fair to him

Maybe so, if he is not a gamer w/competitive spirit. Which may explain why he hasn't seen any action to speak of..

Took our first loss of bye week. The fact he was firm on Mateer and offered no flexibility is the issue. I’d like to hear John is our current qb but every week its a competition. That motivates the other qbs to hear they have at least a chance. And motivates John to work harder and dial in

Hope JM has a Great game against TX but QB sure worries the hell out of me going into the next season.

QB worries me every season. In fact, every game.

I'd like to think this is a smokescreen and they're preparing Whitt to start, but Brent doesn't have that kind of moxie.

Well, no worries on QB before BV. Plus, the DG years were good. Train wreck ever since. It is very hard to understand how BV and Nagy did not view QB depth as an incredibly important part of the roster. All you had to look at was our game v TX for the last decade.

Bye week win he thinks we can turn it around.
Oct schedule
• vs. Texas
• vs. Kentucky
• at Mississippi State
• vs. South Carolina
If Mateer can find some accuracy and not turn ball over we can beat tx. Do that then the other 3 are all winnable. Imagine a 6-2 OU team with wins over top ranked tx and ranked MSST. Then the talk changes. We still have hopium but must beat tx.

Neubauer will probably play vs Texass is my guess. I just have not seen Mateer do well in his OU tenure……

The thing is I believe we have good players. Gabe pointed out some things our OL was not doing correctly. How they are using their hands, for example. That's coaching. He absolutely had no explanation for why they were doing things the way they were doing them, and Gabe would know.
I remember when Spurrier took over Florida. He said (and proved) the problem wasn't personnel. They had great players. They just weren't being coached properly and everyone knows what happened next. Florida went from doormat to menace overnight.
