His big problem at USC has been getting big boys in the trenches and keeping Oregon from stealing the California talent normally reserved for USC. That and couple of atrocious hires, especially Alex Grinch.
Hiring Chad Bowdon has really helped in recruiting. I guess we'll find out soon enough, but if he can't get there this year, I'm not sure he will ever get there.

They just need more kettlebells and non-contact practices.
man, those defenses we had during his tenure were so embarrassing, I think I blocked out most of those big games we lost. Some of those offenses were good enough, but the defenses screwed them out of a championship.

Great work here. A very enjoyable read.
LR will forever be hated by Sooners for the low class and cowardly exit, but even though it took years, we now have a great culture, defense and physicallity that we would have never reached under LR.

He's such a fraud. I remember all those arrogant SC fans acting like they won the lottery at OU's expense
who's laughing now, bitches?

Thats the thing. Riley left OU in wee hours of morning like he committed a crime. He knew it was wrong but then made several disparaging statements. Like he can’t recruit here like he can elsewhere. He is so weak minded and we ended up dodging a bullet.
I love what Brent has built here. And like KD, LR will have regrets later in life how he left. Or maybe he won’t, he’s a narcissist. I know fans will never forgive him because he tried to destroy OU that last year and in the way out. And he was scared of SEC.

I still think what it would have been like to have that Baker led offense with a Venables defense.

That run of QBs we had - BV woulda won us 3-4 titles. It was crazy the great offenses we had paired with shitty defenses.

I don’t recall Stinkin having camps like this. Its a huge network of future players BV has built. These are the type things that get little notice but when its said BV had to rebuild program from ground up - this is just one part of it. Brent has built an overall program not just a football program. We’ll all look back someday mad realize just how much he did and how hard he worked to get us there.

Makes me sick we didn't have better defenses when we had Baker.

He even used LSU as a ruse. I will never trust that guy. I feel that last year he tanked the last half of season. He (via his agent) had been talking to USC during the earlier part of the season. And at some point he agreed to go.
Once you had those answers you could go back and watch some of those games we lost and wow it puts a different light on sketchy play calls. At the time they were head scratchers but with context of him leaving it made more sense.
For instance he would send 3 receivers out. 2 on one side one on the other. But he had all 3 go to the left side of field. And all were within 10 yards of each other. They were all 30 yards deep. And he had TE’s stay home. So no one was in short to medium range and it made things so easy for defenders to cover. Many plays like that. I
always felt he didn’t want to make playoffs and intentionally called plays that were low percentage. No one would question a so called offensive guru. We had no business losing those later games and I’ll never forgive him how he left. A snake.
Bob handed him a title team and he pissed it away. And did worse every year after. But him using Bob’s good grace to shite on OU is unforgivable.

Riley lost to Oregon twice as the USC head coach.
We played (and beat) Oregon in the 2021 Alamo Bowl - the bowl game just after Riley chimped out and left for USC.

I think the scheduling is different now that they are both in the PAC
