I maintain that there is no situation in which this is acceptable.

If you want to wear a football jersey, wear a football jersey.

I don't care what other people wear, it's not something that would really rustle me but I've never worn one in public. I own several MLB, NFL and CFB jerseys but they all just hang on walls around a room in my house. The only one I'd even consider wearing out would be my Braves jersey and even then only to a game. Never done it though.

If a grown arse man wants to wear a football jersey, it's not going to bother me in the least. Grown arse men can wear what they want.

Dress yourself and stop worrying what the frick anyone else is wearing.
You'll be happier.

Never understood why any man would care what another man is wearing. You want to wear a jersey to a game? Go for it. Is a polo more your style? All the power to you. IDGAF.

Ive just found that, in my experience, there are certain things people say and do that are excellent (though not flawless) indicators of them being gigantic tools. Wearing a football jersey with another person's name on the back is one of those things. They are typically worn by morbidly obese middle aged men who slap their girlfriends around after getting smashed in said jersey or scrawny arse 20-somethings who still live in their mother's basement and play video games all day.
The effect is amplified if the jersey is combined with a flat-billed cap with the sticker still on it.

I remember seeing that in 2012 and instantly thinking it would make a fantastic gif

That might be worse than denim on denim.

I only have panthers jerseys and wear them whenever I go to games. Never had any interest in NCAA jerseys. I'm not bothered if anyone thinks this is lame.

Wear what you want.
I wear football and basketball jerseys on occasion both in and out of season. Doesn't really matter to me what folks think of my attire. If I like it, I wear it.
