In case you thought Florida couldn't get any worse...

‘Killer’ herpes isn’t stopping these monkeys from mating and, yep, they’re in Florida

quote:

They have a herpes virus that can be fatal to humans.

They are randy. And their population could double by 2022. “They” are a group of about 200 feral monkeys — rhesus macaques, to be exact — in Silver Springs State Park in central Florida’s Marion County. There is also a colony of these monkeys in Puerto Rico.

quote:

researchers found that these rhesus macaques can shed the herpes B virus, known as macacine herpes virus 1 or McHV-1, and this puts “humans at risk for exposure to this potentially fatal pathogen.”

quote:

The virus is transmitted by bites and scratches and simian bodily fluids — monkeys are known to, sorry, fling their poop

In Ukraine there were laws against protesters wearing masks or helmets so people wore pots in protest. There's a Russian word for it that translates to roughly "pot head" but has a completely different meaning than our version of the word.

Here is the full picture:

I actually saw it on Drudge and then searched the OTB for "herpes" to see if it had been threaded already. Saw your post but figured I'd just wait for you to come in. You should start your own news site, you're clearly a week or two ahead of the other guys.

I live maybe 45 minutes from the area, so it's not really new news... been an issue for a while, just a new wire story on it. Thought your Mandela effect comment right before my mention of 3 weeks just completed the wtf of it all I love seeing these stories pop up and freak people out even more about Florida. Long story short, i avoid chicks from Ocala like the plague.

Don't sell yourself short, I'd read a Florida report if you made it

I've been looking for a new angle in 2019... being the Q of Florida news could be what I'm after. I had several friends in common with that baw who ran into the gas station with the alligator a few months back, just another sign it may be my calling.
