I honestly don't understand why some folks waste so much time arguing till they're blue in the face over the existence of God. It's a pointless exercise.

It's interesting to hear the perspective of the believers is all. No arguing here.

I like the beej. He doesn't get upset when somebody disagrees with him.

I mean, that's not to say I mind discussing matters of faith/atheism/other, it's just seldom that it turns into anything other than an insult-a-thon online after awhile.

Reevaluating one's beliefs (one way or another) now and then is healthy, IMO. Internet anonymity tends to poison such discussions, though. It is what it is.

Just easier for me to abstain. Folks rarely change their minds one way or another because of an internet debate, anyways

God is Supreme and above all. When we give God glory, we recognize Him rightly and we align our lives with ultimate reality.

Giving God glory is the only right thing to do. If we keep the glory for ourselves, we lift up what is lesser. So, giving praise to God puts us in tune with God and ultimate reality. It is right, God is worthy, but it is also for our good. God tells us to praise Him because He loves us and wants what is best for us. God is what is best for us.

It actually makes sense it you think about it.

Oh come on...

You're telling me there's nothing cool about thinking about our existence and debating where we came from? I personally think it's awesome even if most of you silly people think we came from a big guy in the sky with a wand j/k

I'm not going to argue my beliefs. I just want to say that this:

quote:

believing in things you have never seen or witnessed.

Is the definition of faith. I've never seen the wind, but I know and have faith that it's there. I may not have witnessed many things, but I believe that they happened. :)

We can measure wind with an anemometer. There is just as much proof that God exists as there is that the Loch Ness monster and Bigfoot do also. If you want to talk to imaginary people in the sky then you're free to do so, just leave the rest of us out of it.

An atheist started this thread, just like all the other threads wanting to discuss God.....

Who cares who starts the thread? Maybe they're former Christians who finally feel free to ask something or bring up something they've always had a problem with.

And to say it's started out of insecurity is laughable. Are threads about Islam started out of insecurity too or just ones about Christianity?

He said for Christians to stop starting threads to talk about God to him

I simply pointed out that it's a fact that it's always Athiests that start all of the threads wanting to talk about a God they don't believe in

I'm happy to discuss Him with anyone anytime

But for him to post that Christians are ramming God down his throat on this board is just

I disagree but you can substitute uncertainty if you desire.

Stacked, why do you feel Athiests that proudly proclaim God doesn't exist and anyone that believes in God is a fool or has no capability for logical thinking are the ones that start all of the threads asking questions about God?

I think you're confusing Atheism as something that means you don't care about religion. Why do you care if Atheists care about the matter of God? Maybe it's something they've thought a lot about, which led them to the conclusion that there is no God. That doesn't mean they don't care about the subject.

You didn't answer, are threads started about other religions done out of insecurity or uncertainty also, or only ones about Christianity?

And the reason he started the thread is because he believes something and is on a message board. If that's too complex to figure out than I don't know what to tell you. Starting threads about stuff is kinda what we do around here.

What you're not into makes no difference to this topic at all. They're not you. It's something they care about. Take me for instance. I've spent a good amount of my life studying the bible. I have insight and opinions on many things in the bible. My belief in God or lack there of doesn't change my interest in things pertaining to Theology. In fact, since it's what I've studied most, there are times I like talking about it since I can address some topics from a different point of view.

Maybe the reason athiests are the ones "always" starting these threads is because athiests are the ones doing the studying about it.
