Been there, done that. I've been drunker than any of you, out of control, sick and throwing up from alcohol abuse. I look back and ask myself, why did I do that? Why is that socially acceptable and actually admired by so many that they have to brag about it?
In my long life I've done many stupid things but the alcohol abuse was by far the worse. It'll destroy one's life, and others. It's not something to be admired at all.

Couldn't a person do it for the pure enjoyment of it.
I don't really drink anymore, or do drugs. One of my kids has some major medical problems, and I can't chance being "altered" in case we have to make important decisions. But, why can't a guy drink some liquor or rail some blow for fun? Why do you think their life is meaningless?
I'm not into jumping out of perfectly good planes, but I don't think those that do are living an empty or meaningless life that only skydiving can fill momentarily.
It seems strange for one to think that way,

Almost all drugs are more enjoyable than alcohol. Getting anything beyond a decent beer buzz is unpleasant and unappealing.
