It was not Playboy but another college magazine back in the late 70's - early 80's that ranked UK #1. True story.
I attended the old LKD that got spun off as Sun Fun Weekend. They had tractor trailers with beer taps all down the side and ran through several hundred kegs. They turned the 6 pack into a beach and since HT Marketing was based in Murray it was an early site for the Miss Hawaiian Tropic tanning contest. The main party was 3 days and 3 bands but it started with a pub crawl for about a week followed by parties at the 6 fraternities that made up the 6 pack. This was followed by the actual party weekends so the whole thing lasted about 2 weeks or so.
When they were going to make the worlds largest 7&7 and had Miller beer on board to bring in Rodney Dangerfield and Ray Charles for a concert the university stepped in and began shutting down campus. First the fraternities went dry then the campus did. The old Pike house at UK was way wilder than the fraternity in Animal House and the ATO house was pretty damn crazy too back then.

I gotta few Sigma Nu friends at Ole Miss that I know from home so I've visited a few times. The Grove is sweet and all but it's too much about class and presentation for my liking. I'd rather just face a bottle of Jack Daniels openly in the beautiful parking lot of WB Stadium and get stupid

Same damn story as always man. I'd do anything to be raised in your generation, back when personal accountability was valued and universities didn't genocide all fun events.

Xanax is pretty abundant here in Columbia, SC but I hate the way people get on that shite when they do it too much, like zombies.

I actually feel pretty bad for kids in school now
Sex was abundant but the STD's did not kill you and there was no drama in sleeping around. Granted it was an age of hairy bush but that was a minor trade off for all the good parts like free flowing conversation, booze, and fun. There was some real crazy stuff but folks were not destructive and actually did a good job of getting along and going along.
The biggest issue is the universities getting run by lawyers and wanting to get a part of the corporate sponsors. We were happy to break even but schools now want extreme profits and the kids no longer have solid cultures to keep their own stuff in check enough to not get everybody wound up in the first place.

From personal visits throughout college the past couple of years, so if I leave a school off it is probably because I haven't been
1. UGA - And I haven't even been for a game day weekend. F the SEC scheduling department.
2. Bama - I'm biased obviously, but it is hard to beat
3. Tennessee - I honestly feel like they are constantly underrated when it comes to how many hot women there are in Knoxville, shame most are wearing that hideous orange.
4. Ole Miss - Would be higher if they didn't have so many damn rules down there and the bars close way too damn early. It doesn't help that the cops seem to be ridiculous there.
5. SC - We lost the game in 2010, but I had the time of my life there
6. MSU - I always have a great time when I visit Starkville, but it just seems like it could get old going to school there.
7. Arky - I've been there twice when Bama was ranked #1 and you would have thought they were playing an FCS team that weekend. Hell the fraternity houses were "closed" the most recent time.
Don't really know if I should include Vandy or not because I love Nashville, but my experience there has never included the school itself.
I haven't been to Lexington since I was a kid. I think I am going to make the trip to BR this season. I am going to make a trip to college station eventually. DGAF about going to Mizzou or Florida really.
eta: frick I forgot about Auburn. I'd probably have them somewhere in that 4-5 range with Ole Miss and SC.

Now I hadnt heard that story before.

I am sure it seemed like a good idea at the time. I am assuming this was after the Kick Six? Auburn was fricking INSANE after that game. And after the Prayer at JHS.

I gotta give it to Auburn man, y'all go off like no other place in the world when you celebrate. I never knew what 100,000+ drunk country boys going out of their minds looked like until I came down to visit for the Iron Bowl

LSU, BAMA, Ole Miss, Georgia, Carolina and Tennessee are all big party schools.

I forgot about Knoxville. It was a fun time but I've heard it isn't nearly what it used to be.
