Yes and no, but it was also modeled after MSU somewhat as well

Clemson was modeled after MSU.
LINK
They are our little brother and South Carolina's little brother.

To be honest, I don't think that any of the other SEC schools are similar to LSU.
Mizzou and USC are the most alike, because they are both located in Columbia.

:cough:
And Missouri. I forgot for a moment that Missouri was in the SEC. Sorry.

When did this happen? UA is not a liberal arts school.

Really, neither is Georgia or Ole Miss in this day and age. But all three were established as such.

And the others weren't?

I'm sorry, I don't understand your point here. I was just pointing out that LSU was similar in that aspect.

From an Ag & Engineering stand point, A&M is similar. Both are cultish but ours is da Fambly and theirs is da ghey. We also have hot girls so that is another difference.

I'd say that UGA is most like Oxford in terms of student body and town/campus. Athens is a much bigger oxford.

I guess my point is that UA, Ole Miss and UGA are more business, pre-law, pre-med, and liberal arts focused.
Whereas Auburn, Mississippi State and Georgia Tech are more Agriculture, Science and Tech focused.
Another similarity is that Bama, UGA and Ole Miss are the 3 founding members of the SEC Country Club.

LSU does have one similarity with Mizzou in that we aren't confused about our tiger mascots.

Clemson was modeled after Mississippi State per the will of Thomas Green Clemson that granted them the land.

LSU was established before the Civil War, the Morill Act came during the Civil War, and the Confederate states complied during Reconstruction.
The Agricultural and Mechanical College of Louisiana was established in New Orleans as Louisiana's land grant school.
Louisiana's forward thinking legislature said "This is some dumb shite. Let's put our agricultural and mechanical school at our flagship university." and three years later merged the new college with LSU while dumbasses up the road in Jackson said "We don't want farmers at dear Ole Miss" and established a brand new school in Starkville.
If State and Ole Miss would have been combined like the legislatures of Louisiana, Tennessee and Georgia did, things might be different in Mississippi.
The only place it worked was Texas. Alabama was a little different because the Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn) was already established when the Morrill Act passed.

To be fair -- they initially tried to put it at Ole Miss and no one showed up for it.
The cultural divide in Mississippi was too deep at the time.
