Race is a social construct, so mostly this is all a matter of opinion. In terms of anthropology the three subtypes of humans (at least when I was in school ~10 years ago) are Caucasoid, Negroid and Mongoloid, which roughly correspond to our ideas of white, black and asian.

To the person who brought up people "from a Spanish speaking nation," you know "Hispanic" is not a race right? There are white hispanics and black hispanics. Hispanic is an ethnicity, and ethnicity and race are not necessarily the same thing.

The only time there were multiple races of humans on earth was when Neanderthals, modern humans, Denisovans and at least two other distinct species were all alive at the same time about 60,000 years ago.

Today we only have ethnicities. With the advent of easy travel, even ethnicities will fade as we copulate freely around the world.

Race doesn't exist, which is why white people are racist.

Are these not species? With race, we are talking about differences within the same species.

Well, I'm not a hardliner on the definition of the word race because it's so abused today. I like yours, "differences within the same species" because it's so precise.

However, it doesn't apply to humans today, in my opinion, because there just aren't differences substantial enough to warrant a designation of race to groups. That's why I favor the word ethnicity.

The species alive today to which race best applies is probably the chimpanzees. There are three distinct races of chimps but it's at a genetic level. They differ very little in appearance and behavior.

There are no equivalent differences of people at the genetic level. That's why I don't like the word race as it applies to humans today. We're just too much alike genetically to warrant use of that divisive term.

60,000-100,000 years ago, there were at least five species of humans on earth. I was taught that the definition of species excluded the ability to mate with another species.

That definition has been clouded by the discoveries that modern humans did indeed mate with Neanderthals, Denisovans and, most likely, all of the other species in existence at the time. There were certainly great differences at the genetic level across these species.

So, is it more accurate to say that there was one species of human at that time and 5+ races? Or one race and 5+ species?

That's the nature of science. The more we learn the more we have to modify our way of thinking.

The OTB has gotten really shitty. 2014 OTB was a 9.6, 2016 OTB is like a 4.3.

You realize that your pics have Mongolians spelled as Mongorian.

That's racist, dude.
