The Corps of Cadets is the oldest student organization on campus, having been formed in 1876. Under federal law, Texas A&M University is one of six U.S. colleges that are classified as senior military colleges.
As has already been mentioned, freshmen and sophomores take ROTC classes. Juniors and Seniors either receive military contracts to receive commissions or, if not, remain members of the Cadet Corps and are classified as "Drill & Ceremonies" (D&C) cadets. D&C Cadets are required to attend leadership classes taught by the Commandant's Office.
These are honorable students and should be respected.
They are also gay and love cock and semen.

It seems like a serious bunch of young men
They're seriously embarrassing and seriously queer, but not to be taken seriously.

That explains why you're alright. I've always gotten along with air force best if ask the branches. I had an aunt retire as as Lt Colonel a couple years ago, I think out of San Antonio.

do most Cadets move on to military careers?
Yes.

I get that we like to joke about the Corps. And by all means, carry on. But I for one would like to thank TS for his service to this country, and for the service his family has given to this country, and for the service tens of thousands of members of the A&M Corps of Cadets have given to this country over the years - some of them giving their very lives.

A&M commissions more officers than any other school, just not the academies.
So the answer is no.

I know this is a troll thread, but...
Requirements are different depending on the unit joined.
ROTC is required for freshman and sophomore years. Any military commitment is signed before your junior year unless you're on a 3+ year scholarship, then it's signed upon acceptance of contract.
The Aggie Band consists of six cadet units.
By the structure of the Corps of Cadets, A&M is considered a Senior Military College by Title X, but is not DoD-affiliated aside from ROTC.

If not, its a glorified social club from your junior year on.
Getting fricked in the arse over and over by your buddies is not my idea of a "social club".

Since you're a t-sip, that's unequivocally a false statement.

They're affiliated with the military as much as any ROTC program is at any school in the country. They just take it a creepy step further with the cadet thing.

And no, most do not serve after school. 40% according to the Corps page.
That only factors in those who commission through the Trigon.
That doesn't include OCS, PLC, Direct Commission, cadets serving in the Guard and Reserves, or the major unit consisting of prior service veterans.

Norwich

Less than half the cadets dressed up for football games will commission. They're a military college but not an academy.
Serious question for Aggies... How many women are in the corps of cadets?

Its more of our history than almost every other school. 100% of our students were cadets just 50 years ago. Its who we were, and we're proud of it.

I complained far too much while I was in and wasn't in long enough to merit any thanks, but I'll definitely second the thanks of all those who went before and after
