Over a noise complaint...

LINK

The link has 4 videos. The first shows the cops going into this apartment and pulling out two frat stars, throwing them on the ground, tazing them, and beating them. All while the kids are clearly not resisting arrest.

The other 3 videos are from the perspective of the kids in the apartment and show what happened immediately before. Whatever noise was complained about was stopped by this point but the cop is standing in the doorway refusing to leave. They ask if they're being detained or arrested. The cop doesn't respond, so they say "we're shutting the door now" and when they do that's when cops go all gestapo.

I'm not a cop hater by any means, but this is just ridiculous. These cops deserve to punished.

Cops.

Edit: arrest may have been justified due to possible Hoover swoop.

As a Hoover native who rocked the swoop from age 11 to age 17, I take great offense to that

If they were black they would have been shot

And

They're just lucky their lease didn't allow them to keep a dog in the apartment.

I don't really have a problem with what the cop did until after he pulled the guy outside.

But frick them for what they did after that point.

frickin TPD. Very similar incident happened at my house when I was at Bama in the 90's. No tasers involved but friend got knocked upside the head with a night stick. All over a noise complaint.

Anyone know the officers name(s). All of these men should not be employed in law enforcement. Fast food would be better suited for these savages

When he tried to shut the door, he bought himself an arrest and conviction right there on the spot. He's at the very least interfering. When he pulls away and goes back inside, that's resisting. Those are slam dunks.

Now as to the actual arrests, the one thing I saw for sure that's going to land an officer in trouble is where frat boy gets put against the wall of the opposite building. He's pretty much being controlled and about to be cuffed when some random officer not involved in removing him from the apartment comes flying in and gives him a dry stun to the neck with a taser which causes him to fall. The fall probably appeared to be more resistance and thus triggered a response from the other officers. All of that scrum lies at the feet of the guy who came in with the taser to the neck.

Couple of final thoughts - not one video shows the incident from start to finish. All start just prior to them trying to shut the door on the officer. There are at least eight officers on the scene for that call. You can take it to the bank that whatever happened beforehand was more than a simple noise complaint. If I had to guess, this wasn't the first trip the PD had made to the party that night and/or there's a prior history at that location.

Resisting what though? The cop never said he was being arrested, so how can he resist arrest when there's no arrest taking place? Resisting arrest and interfering with an investigation have become cafch-all charges when people don't cooperate like the cop's want them to. It's bullshite and incidents like this one help bring this shite to light. The kid was being a douche but that doesn't justify any of the cops' actions.

I don't disagree that some of the force used to effect the arrest was excessive. Again, the guy with the dry stun taser was way out of line and if anyone was swinging a nightstick or flashlight, they were too.

Having said that, they don't get to dictate when the officer is finished talking to them. When they tried to shut the door while he was halfway inside, they crossed the line that earns you a set of silver bracelets and a place to sleep for the night.

Also, as I said earlier, I guarantee you there's a lot more you didn't see.

How? What gives him the right to prevent them from shutting their door? Being a cop doesn't mean you can just walk into some bodies residence.

Generally a noise complaint call ends when the offender complies, and cops don't usually bust up parties contained indoors, so I have no doubt something happened beforehand. There's 3 likely scenarios.
1) the kids were assholes. I'm sure they were. But feeling disrespected doesn't give the cop the right to harass them and trespass with no cause by putting his foot in their residence to keep the front door open.
2) he smelled weed. Pretty sure he'd still have to get a warrant though. That'd be a huge can of worms if a cop could just enter your residence because "he said he smelled weed"
3) he saw alcohol inside. Unlikely because they turned the lights out, but even if he did can he lawfully hold them up in a private residence to check ther IDs?

I just don't see anything in any of the videos that show these kids doing anything illegal or anything that could justify the officers actions that caused everything

The door was open and he was there legally investigating a complaint. Alabama state law and a shait ton of case law says he has every right to be there a reasonable amount of time to complete his investigation. This concept is pretty much as old as our legal system.

I have no idea if he said he "smelled weed" but if he saw weed, something else illegal, or saw alcohol and can articulate a reasonable suspicion that they're underage then yes, he can hold them in their private residence to check their IDs. If it is in plain view, it is fair game. Again, this case law is only a couple of centuries old.

For emphasis, some of the force was over the top. There's no argument from me on that point, but once again the bolded statement is very, very important. All those videos start at the point of confrontation.

Dude, it was a fricking noise complaint! Now take the rat of the video into perspective over a noise complaint and the noise was turned off. It doesn't take a genius to figure Bama fans would be partying on game day, does it?
Knock on for, say "keep it down" and walk the frick away!

Instead, you sweept in with 10 pigs and beat up partying college kids. And assholes like you think it's fine.

No one sends 10 cops for a noise complaint. You've said one guy is getting arrested, he still refuses to walk outside, and another kid is threatening to slam the door on the cops arm. He pushed one guy out of the way and pulled the guy getting arrested outside. I don't have a problem with that part.
