Sure.

intelligent life beyond that on earth?

I'd say the odds are in it's favor. I think there are planets where trees talk, amoeba like objects interact, and giant rainbow shrimp eat giant squids. Now, if any of them are smart enough to make spaceships and shite remains to be see.

Then it would seem my statement is accurate, about those believing in alien life doing so, also mock those that believe in God. When both rely purely on faith for their beliefs.

How so? At this point, they're fiction and there is nothing to logically suggest they exist.

I just find it less crazy that there is a comparable if not more advanced civilization somewhere in the infinite universe than there is one all powerful being who created the earth just for us to try and destroy each other and use up every resource available and hasn't tried to stop us or help us make the world better.

honestly if there are aliens i'd wager they're the source of everyone thinking there is a god.

I don't mock those who believe in God because I'm open minded.

I think that God is a jerk and I choose not to believe in such a vindictive a-hole.

Yet, there is absolutely no evidence to support that belief.

Pretty sure that isn't the reason given through Biblical teachings he created mankind. Seems some of the teachings kinda lays out a way to live in peace with one another and it's man's free will that has taken society and life where it has.

Or is it your contention, that mankind, who is unable to stop war, murder and self destruction, is the end all to intelligence as we know it, and has the answers, including a belief, without proof, that there are other intelligent civilizations?

The sheer probability numbers of it suggest that yes there is life somewhere else in the universe. When stephen Hawking says that life is very plausible then I'll default to him since he's way smarter than either of us will ever be and he's devoted his life to this kind of shite.

All I really know about god is that if he exists then he had better have a good excuse. Well that and everything I learned in church and through my own studies. When I talk about god I don't mean the bible one I mean the intellegent design theory type of god, it helps your argument for the most part because it doesn't tie you to the easily debunked biblical god.

I don't deny he's way smarter. Wasn't he also wrong for about 20 yrs on black holes though?

Why does God owe you an explanation? If He is the creator, and he set out a way to conduct our lives, and we don't, then isn't it us that owes an explanation?

The Bible has been interpreted for thousands of years. I'm sure there are some inaccuracies in it, that doesn't however debunk the entirety of it.

why put us through all this shite if from day 1 of the universe he knew who was going to heaven and who was going to hell? Seems a little assholely to put people through shite like concentration camps and all the horrors and atrocities even though he knew exactly what would happen as he created hilter, stalin, or any other mass murderer in history. He made them and knew what they would do to people as he made them.

So which parts would you say are inaccurate then. Because if you know it's inaccurate but you aren't sure which parts then i'd say god does a lot more fricked up stuff in there than he spends preaching the hippy jesus peacetalks.

I'm not saying he's perfect but what i'm saying is that he's a hell of a lot better source for information on aliens than you or the bible or even me for that matter.

God cares. He's like the overly attached Girl Friend meme. Love me or i'll put you in the worst place imaginable. God cares a little too much if you ask me.

He gave them free will. Along with those that followed them. If a parent raises their children in a perfect environment, and at adulthood that child murders someone, do you blame the parent and call them assholes? Do you say they have a lot to answer for?

I'm not an admitted Biblical scholar. Perhaps a lack of recorded events would be more accurate to say.

quote:

he's a hell of a lot better source for information on aliens than you or the bible

Based on what? Does he have a secret knowledge of proof that he hasn't divulged yet? Or are you relying on faith, that he has a belief in alien life?

I'm not mocking or making fun of those that believe in aliens. Just pointing out, that belief in them, relies on faith. Just as those that believe in God relies on faith. For one group to be so matter of fact and mocking of the other, to me, seems kinda dumb.

i've already said i'm not 100% for sure in either. I just think aliens sound much more realistic to me than some all powerful being that is supposedly all love but wouldn't stop a single atrocity in history.

right so this free will, it's completely unchecked? God doesn't ever stop someone from doing what they want to make them follow his plan for them?

Those are in contrast.

I think the mistake most make in their arguments, is that they try to relate God to justify their own thoughts, deeds or actions. If one chooses to have faith or believe in God, then they have to surrender the belief, that they come first, and God comes second and must fit their narrative of what He should be.
