You don't think they're people?

They are people. Confused people who may have a touch of mental illness like half of our society.

Interesting. Do you think gay is a mental disorder too?

So how do you feel about it when people say that you're mentally ill?

It doesn't bother me at all. I will probably never understand what causes people to do it because I am not a doctor or psychologist so I cannot pass judgement.
I do often feel bad for people who change genders, because their lives are inherently made harder in our society after they make that choice.

I don’t understand it at all.
Also, I don’t really care what another person does with their life. If that’s what makes them happy, who are we to tell them what to do?

Curious to hear your thoughts

It's pure degeneracy and yet another symptom of the decline of our society.

I actually know, or I should say knew, someone who thought they were transgendered.
He insisted on being called Sam because it could mean Samuel or Samantha, and he was dating a friend of mine named Lydia. Lydia was one of those folks you meet in college registration and she seems nice but realize about two weeks later she's completely off her rocker.
They made a nice couple.
Sam was probably a gay guy who was really attracted to women. He was just a complete mess. He went back and forth on whether he was transgender or not before eventually deciding he was and going to Thailand for the whole snip and tuck procedure.
He came back as Shannon, his new identity as a woman. I saw him, or her, once and he did not seem that much happier then he had been before. About three months after the surgery he disappeared. Three months after that he killed himself out in California.
The suicide rate for people who have this surgery is somewhere around 50%. That tells me they have a lot more issues then just whether or not they think they are the opposite sex.
"If I can just be male/female then all my troubles and doubts will go away!"
Well they don't. And you spent your life savings for a very uncomfortable procedure with major consequences. This is a mental illness.
Gay? Ok. Bisexual? Alright. But when you start getting into I don't think I'm my own gender then you are dealing with people who have a very real mental illness.

What do you think needs to be done to treat this "symptom"?

Shhhhhh we can't talk about that here.

I believe in men and women, but I really don't care what ppl do in their own life. I will agree that the statistics are not good for transgenders.
This isn't their fault though. Our media suggests who we should strive to be instead of encouragement to embrace who we really are.
