Do you and your people have any interesting holiday traditions?

Batman is part of my kids lego Christmas village.
We love the lego Batman movie and was watching it and my kid loves legos so I asked her if she wanted a lego Batman and she said yes.
Ordered it on Amazon and after it came in I stuck him on the roof of her Christmas village just to see how long it took her to notice. After a week she finally noticed him.
Ever since then when her Christmas village comes out for the Hollidays Batman takes his place in the village scene.

Some may do big family things.
Some may only do immediate family things.
Others may have no family and celebrate with friends.
It’s a blanket term to describe whoever you celebrate with. :)

My people gather and eat Gumbo. The newest person to the group usually makes the roux supervised by a chef of course. A good time is had by all.

Nothing like having a pole handy and a room full of pimps

We like to assume we're all normal here (even though we know we're not).

My mother one year tried to incorporate prime rib as a Christmas Eve dinner tradition.
Like formal, dress nice because we were about to go to or just went to Christmas Eve Mass and eating with the good silverware and china.
I was like 13 and my brother was 11. We hated it. My brother was pretty vocal about it and that unique to the family tradition was never a tradition.
They did allow one gift to be opened on Christmas Eve every year and it is a tradition I've continued with my children.

Last year my dad strayed from our regular brisket to sous vide steak. It was weird. And I told him we’re going back to the brisket. Like a+ for creativity. But I like mine like medium rare leaning more rare than medium. So it was brutally overcooked.

We drink bourbon or rye and fight.
It worked for us, my two older brothers are an investment banker and a physicist.
I worked on trucks.
So, the science works out.
lotta works in that story.

Not really. The older we get, the less we do honestly. There's that magic with little kids and the pure joy, but that fades as they age.
Cheesecake is the only thing that is a must for me.
Haven't decided what to do for dinner this year. Maybe Prime Rib, but my wife is only about 80% committed to eating meat the correct way and she probably doesn't enjoy it as much as I do.
Maybe some pappardelle bolognese. It's a bit of a process to make and takes awhile. Something about smelling it all day and working up the flavor that is very satisfying on top of being delicious.
Lasagna would be good in that same light, we don't make it often because of how heavy it is. Always tons of leftovers though, that's a bonus.
Brisket is an interesting idea. I know how to smoke meat really well, but I've never given brisket a try. I just worry about the timing on it being ready and just generally fricking it up somehow. I also know shite about making a good sauce for it. High risk, high reward choice.
I think the hidden meanings behind things and the symbolism is quite a bit more interesting, but it tends to upset others.

Don't do it, he's going to steal your legos and sell them for profit.
