Peanut butter sandwiches and Hogan's Heroes before running to my buddy league and little league baseball games - my pregame ritual

Hollywood wouldn't touch a show like that with a ten ft pole now.

A show where the Nazis were, if memory serves me correctly, played by German Jews who survived the Holocaust.

People just can't look at the entertainment value anymore and yes, it was a hell of a show.

The show was created by Bernie Fein, and the actors who played Klink, Schultz and General Burkhalter were all of Jewish origin. And Robert Clary, who played French POW LeBeau, survived Buchenwald (although 10 of his 13 siblings did not).
CSB: my late uncle, who was a stage actor for several decades, was good friends with Leon Askin, who played Burkhalter.

Mid 1960's walking into a CBS producer's office to pitch a comedy about a Nazi prisoner of war camp....
" Copacetic my man. Hang loose and we'll rap about it. "

Too bad the star of that show was a pervert who got bludgeoned to death by his gay lover

SGT. Schultz is one of the greatest second bananas in the history of movies and television.

Loved Hogan's Heroes...but the best TV show of all time?
For a Mini-Series it's Band of Brothers
For a multi-season series it's Justified.
That's the hill I'll die on.
