PR wise, it is different. Practically, it is no different.
We're talking about the political inplications. So yeah its more about PR than the actual act. Tons of cameras, the world watching and millions wiped out before our eyes. That would have serious consequences.

It's the nuance that really stands out in your analysis.

Unlike the Poliboard, I'm not so uptight that I don't find your shtick amusing.

They love me over there too, except for Tuba and Rex, and Decatur, and Draconian Sanctions, and trackfan. They've all referred to me as "undisputed worst poster on all of TD.com".

I'm lulzing at those who predicted this would be over in a few days.
This damn thing is just beginning
Israel says they are going to fix this once and for all.

Kills nailed this.
It's obviously all or nothing this time. It's escalating right now ..

I don't, just want to live my life with my love and family and be left the hell alone.
Yet I hear about this shite everyday, and the unthinkable shite that happens in our own homeland day to day. That's why I carry a gun, I don't want to kill anyone, but I want to protect mine from all the crazy motherfrickers.

Has the IDF started their major march into Gaza yet?
They learned from what Nassir did to them in the Suez. Once they get one opening they will blow it out and spread from there.

It's not going to be all or nothing unless Israel is willing to flatten Gaza, and they are not. Too much money at stake and International sentiment is starting to faulter. The invasion is still very popular domestically though, so I at least agree it's not close to being over yet.
If I'm leading Hamas, I'm stopping rocket fire into Israel and start launching rockets at the wall. Makes the blockade point, stops Israel's justification for Hamas attacking civilians, and I doubt Israel wants Gaza to have an open crossing. They wont, but Hamas needs to change the game if they want to reach any objectives without seeing many thousand more civilians dead.
If you're Israel, stop bombing UN schools or hospitals. The human shield argument is working great for justification if you don't bomb the places where children go or people get medical treatment.

im ok with them dropping bombs wherever. As long as hbt approves that is all that matters. Hamas has brought the kids deaths about by firing rockets into Israel.

Well that ain't happi'nan anytime soon. Armies do not fight wars, people fight wars, it is a people against a people, a nation against a nation, whether a nation is unrecognized or recognized.
Their Army, Navy and Air Force are the organized groups who spearhead but in the end it is a people against a people. Once you get your head around this everything else is War; it is hell on earth.

the best part about this conflict so far is how inept Kerry has been. Israel has dusted him off multiple times because he is a clown to them.

No. It doesn't appear that way.

Wars are typically fought to have one faction to submit to the political will of another faction. This case is no different. Pratical concerns trump ideology for most at the end of the day. Food. Water. Family.
You have Gaza sitting with nothing to lose at the moment. No economic activity to speak of and no ability to leave Gaza. So you have support for terrorist assholes who's bombing gets you bombed. The risk of death for the sake of a little freedom probably seems worth it to many in Gaza. Now if they had more to lose, the political calculus is different.
Put that into the broader context of the "oppressers" being of a different religion and race, and you get these never ending conflicts. Look broader still though, and you'll see Sunningdale Arabs in other neighbors rooting for Hamas to be removed. Egypt specifically after the military took over and is rooting out the Muslim Brotherhood and other extremist. Iran has Hamas's back though Shia and engaging with Sunningdale extremist in Iraq.
Point being, if it was simply a people vs a people the other Arab states would be engaged and trying to help Hamas. Instead, Egypt is actively destroying tunnels and blockading Gaza. The political will of Israel and Egypt have lined up here.
It's a complicated mess with the stink of proxy wars, religious differences, and economic concerns.
Finally, sending John Kerry to try and broker a peace deal is hilarious. US/Israeli relations are rather cold right now and we send a man with the gravitas of Kerry.

we are so weak on the foreign stage right now that Israel has a much longer leash than they usually get. Hopefully its long enough for them to crush Hamas for good.

We're weak as much thanks to leadership as our national aversion to foreign conflicts after the past decade. It's not like Obama has many cards in the deck.
With Israel, it's been the typical Obama Administration flaw of a naive understanding of the situation coupled with an overgrandized view of our position. It went cold back in 2009 with the US pushing Israel for no more expansion of settlements. While reasonable, it's a non starter for the conservative Bibi in the current political climate there. Five years of strained relations with the one party we do have diplomatic ties too and then let's go make peace happen...
I doubt Israel would have backed off even if we had better relations though. They have the opportunity to do a lot of damage to Hamas without their Arab neighbors really having a problem with it. It's politically very popular in Israel. Domestic trumps International until the money stops flowing.
