Driver/sales workers and truck drivers
28.2 fatalities per 100,000
976 fatalities in 2007

Transportation incidents are a common cause of death.

$12/hr is the average wage.

Life is rough. Stop using isolated tragedies as a way to justify Guns Up, please?
Could you find another reason?

The fact most officer shootings occur during these events kind of fricks the quoted word in it's arse.

Make sure they live in a trailer so you can feel both morally and economically superior to them.

By comparison, Alabama's rate for LEOs is something like 16 per 100,000.

Eta: national rates for LEOs is
21.8 fatalities per 100,000 (includes traffic fatalities which account for much of the numbers).

How?
Cops are almost never killed in the first place, it is an extremely rare event. A lot of those PD deaths cited by AUnite were not work related. Lots of Heart attack and traffic accident.

You are still more likely to die in many other professions, stop acting like its normal for cops to be shot at.

I didn't realize that truck drivers were one of the most hated professions in America. Nor did I realize they were often shot at. Who knew?

Isolated incidents? You serious Clark? I simply used Alabama since you and I live here. Officers are killed, almost daily, in the line of duty. Simply bc of what they do for a living. Until you've buried someone you consider family, that was murdered simply bc of his profession, you won't understand.

Non-sequiter.

Once again, a nation of 300,000,000+ people.

At least you admit you are biased. I get it. You still won't convince me. Truck drivers die more often and while working for less money.

No one seems to care.

I dare you to say that to the family of the 292 officers that were killed in Alabama by gunfire. Not accidental, not friendly fire; they were murdered.

Wrong. I cited the link I grabbed the stats that I posted.
Bombings, stabbings and gunfire are not heart attacks and traffic accidents.

15 Alabama officers were shot dead in an entire decade. That isn't some pressing offensive. LINK

Once again, Does a few officer deaths justify putting the public's life in danger?
Or is a loaded gun not dangerous?

I probably am biased. But I also understand that as long as you comply with an officer, and you're respectful...gasp...they normally leave you alone.

I also understand that (on the rare occasion) I'm pulled over..don't make sudden movements, and keep your hands where they can see them. An officer has no idea who is in the car they pulled over, nor do they know if the person is violent or mentally ill.

There have been 3 officers shot in 2014 in 52 days.

LINK

Also, in 2014, cops have shot two teenagers. One a schizophrenic whose parents called the police for help (North Carolina, I believe). The other is the incident in question.

So you are okay with having your life put in danger for someone else's safety. At least you are honest.

No one should die, but that's not the world we live in. Police officers are constantly putting themselves in danger for the good of a community.

Are you saying that police officers shouldn't carry loaded weapons? Cause that's just fricking retarded. Then all the criminals will have guns, but our police officers wont.

I have never felt that my life was in danger when I was in the presence of police officers.

I'm happy for you. I hope you never do. There are those of us for whatever reason (past history, skin color, area we live in, etc) who are in fear of our saftey every time we see a cop.
