Good question; not sure how that would pan out. I really do think Knoxville city and Knox County should consolidate like Davidson County and Nashville did in 1970.

Anyway, Knoxville should open back up on May 1. The outbreak in East Tennessee isn't bad at all.

Based on what, exactly? Slowly reopening in phases is going to have to be done at some point, somewhere. Based on what I see first hand as an ER nurse, it's as good a time as any to start and we are in a better situation to do it here than most anywhere else. Population density, being on the backside of the curve, all sorts of empirical evidence as to why this isn't "stupid as shite."

While you're busy reading reports and hanging onto every word of those and having absolutely no first hand knowledge of wtf is going on, I'm busy actually working in this and seeing up close and personal what's actually going on in this state.

I'll take what I see and hear in a first hand manner over a news-oriented, regurgitated opinion every damn time.

Based on the fact we’re on the lower end of every state as far as mass testing goes so what reasons do you believe that we’ve “peaked” if we don’t even know how many people have it?

Just because Fox News told Trump the country is ready to be reopened doesn’t mean it actually is. Just about everyone disagrees.

Well, let's see. Maybe based on the # of ppl presenting with symptoms?

Certainly a nurse like yourself knows that this virus can be transmitted asymptomatically, right?

And I’m certain you understand the dangers of that?

Don’t forget that we are telling sick people to stay at home...

I'm okay with the phase-in set in motion. That's as a nurse who has had C19 personally and is more aware of the dangers associated with C19 than ppl who do not have to work around it everyday. Yet I'm still comfortable with my family's level of safety with the lifting of restrictions given the knowledge that I have regarding the situation from a healthcare point of view.

That's the last I'm going to say on the subject.

If it’s any consolation, I hope you’re right.

I think it’s a bad move though. Parachute is working, let’s not cut it loose before hitting the ground.

Kane WWE wrestler is the mayor of knox county and the highest elected office holder in the libertarian party. The mayor of Knoxville is just a random karen that never should have been elected.

It looks like the courts will determine jurisdiction issues.

I get that Tennessee is ready to reopen in most areas but Georgia looks to be a bit premature if this virus is a death plague.

Looking at my county vs a similar sized county in ga:
Clarke vs Blount populations 125,000
Corvid 19 cases:
Clarke 116 13 dead
Blount 46 3 dead
Active cases:
Clarke unknown
Blount 2

Knox vs Clayton
Population 477,000 vs 290,000
Cases:
Clayton 597 21 dead
Knox 196 4 dead
Active cases:
Clayton unknown
Knox 24

Free no symptoms needed testing started early last week with results coming back over the weekend in most of Tennessee. We are regularly seeing a net -500 plus active cases per day. Georgia is ramping up testing and gaining daily.

If nothing else we should be able to learn if the shutdown had an effect.
