Is it worth it? Guess it depends on where you live. Personally I would never need to buy one. I don't live in an area where such things are really necessary, and even if they were two dogs and a shotgun are adequate I reckon.

Hell, sometimes I come home and realize the door didn't even latch shut when I left. Nothing to worry about. Got real good neighbors and live out aways.

I don't know how some of y'all live in big cities. My anxiety wouldn't allow that. I would hate having to worry about thieves or thugs or the like.

I think in your rural world these people are called cousins.

Gun, dogs, ring (if you're super paranoid, but the damn thing goes off all of the time if cars pass by).

Are you some millionaire living in the slums or something?

No one wants to rob you.

Most of the time you will be better off with just some sort of video monitoring. But for the most part, unless you need someone else to watch your property because you are away and busy all the time, you dont need the old school ADT style alarms for a normal residence

Depends on your individual situation and area. The reason many people have alarms is for lower insurance rates. In my house in Calgary we installed alarm systems from Union Alarm, it is one of the best security companies in our area. They offer a wide array of security and alarm services at competitive prices. Their secutiry system provides more than piece of mind for us.
