Second week in a row I've been "randomly selected" for urinalysis. They trying to bring me down y'all. I said no to drugs a long time ago!

Randoms should sometimes hit people back to back, hence "random".
Last time I got pee tested I didn't pee enough and had to wait another 90 minutes while slogging water. I almost got so hydrated it was too dilute.

Ive been working for like 17 years now and have never gotten a random or ever heard of anyone getting one that they didn't have an ulterior motive for trying to get ride of.

You've not worked in the military then
They get us all the time for pee tests. Sometimes there's an objective that gets trickled down through the grapevine after the fact but for the most part it truly is random.

Yea I've gone six month stretches without a UA and now I get picked twice in one week and three times in six weeks. I'd say it's a conspiracy but they've picked our CSM each time too.

I've had a total of 4 drug tests in 13 years, only one random. Two of the others were for promotions, and one was for hiring purposes.

Nope, private sector and as far as I know thats pretty much the standard. I would assume that there might be some high security clearance jobs that truly get randoms, but for the most part I've always felt they just throw that clause in so that if they expect you of drug use and want a reason to easily get rid of you.

It seems weird to me that they would want to DT someone whom they intending to promote. If a guy is doing a good enough job to promote who give a frick if he's doing drugs. Apparently whatever he's doing allows him to knock his shite out of the park. Maybe when the promotion means they'll be moving into a position which carries with it more inherent physical danger to himself or others.
But hey, Im in software dev.............we sit in cubes all day so maybe my experience is the exception. Though it was the same when I worked at a grocery store, department store, and Lowes. Who knows...
