Exactly. It is a good movie, it just shouldn't share the same title as the book.
The book would make for a great Game of Thrones type miniseries on HBO. The premise is a UN employee (basically the only similarity between the book and movie) who is going around interviewing all of these different people's experience before, during, and after the outbreak.
The audiobook has a tremendous cast as well.

Gene is one crazy dude. Didn't even recognize the Christ symbolism until we discussed it in class yesterday. Pretty cool

How was World War Z the book in comparison to the movie?
I haven't seen the movie, mostly because I hate so much CGI, but the book is really good.

I saw this listed on a site as the #1 novel of all time. Got a quick spoiler-free synopsis?

The movie is nothing like the book

I don't really remember the specific symbolism. I barely remember the plot. 7th grade was quite a long time ago for me now

Finny was the innocent Lamb that was betrayed and ultimately killed by his friend
Got this online:
Got this online:
quote:
In the novel, A Separate Peace, the tree that Finny falls from symbolizes the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. As mentioned earlier, in the Finny symbolism paragraph, his fall represented the fall of man, and so the tree he fell out of consequentially represented the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. In the Bible, Eve ate the fruit off the tree and thus sin entered the world. In the novel, when Finny fell, peace and innocence left the Devon school, and thereafter the winter session, full of discipline and hard work, began. During the time when the fall took place, Gene could be considered to be symbolizing the serpent. Just as the serpent caused Eve to eat from the tree and fall into sin, Gene caused Finny to fall from the tree, ending the summer session and giving way to the winter session.

It is one of the most interesting methods of story telling I have ever read. Time travel, fire bombing, schitzo characters. really hard to summarize, but I assure you it's worth the read.

I read this a few months ago. It's basically about a dude who can travel through time who tells his life story more or less, somewhat centered around the bombing of dresden in WW2. It's good, not difficult, and a relatively quick read. I'd go for it.
My 2 favorite books of all time are a Confederacy of Dunces and The Firm. COD is literally laugh out loud funny. It remains the only book in my life I've ever read more than once. It's also the first book I recommend to people who ask for a book recommendation. It is truly phenomenal.
The Firm is just a fast paced, break-neck thrill ride that will keep you turning pages all night. Both are fantastic.

I had heard it was a bit slower than Devil in the White City, have you read both? I'm curious since I've read Devil but not In the Garden of Beasts.
I've heard good things about Gone Girl. I downloaded it and am planning on starting it this week.
We need to start an Rant OTB book club.
