I'll agree with most of what you said and without going into spoilers, I loved that it was a one and done movie that told a story that linked films.

I enjoyed seeing the shoretroopers on the beaches and the grimy look of the dirty stormtrooper armor, not sure I have noticed it in other films. I have heard most of the gripes are that it was just this big action film but I felt it told a great story on it's own much like the Force Unleashed video games did.

Saw it last night and it was very good. Don't give a shite about the books/games not being canon.

clone wars and rebels cartoon

You don't know what you are talking about so how bout shut it!!!

You do realize these are made by Disney and are most certainly canon. Hell, the ship they fly in Rebels is in Rogue One along with the droid Chopper and there is a call out on the intercom in the Rebel base for one of the characters in the Rebels cartoon show.

How about you shut your mouth because you don't know what you're talking about. I am saying that clone wars and rebels is canon. We are agreeing. I said everything that is not the now 8 movies, clone wars, rebels, or the new books is no longer canon

For me, Star Wars began in 1977 and entails six episodes. If something is not congruent with those six episodes, then it isn't Star Wars in my opinion. I don't know what 'force awakens' is and I don't know what 'rogue one' is - would seem to be part of the story that explains, is part of, or follows episodes 1 thru 6.

Seriously? Really not that difficult to understand. Rogue one is the standalone story of the acquisition of the Death Star Plans and happens right before the events of a New Hope. The Force Awakens continues the OG trilogy and happens about 30 years after Return of the Jedi. At least watch the movies before you complain about not understanding the, or at least try Google. Damn Liberal needs everything handed to you on a Silver Platter

Such a great movie! Love the characters. I really want to watch it again and immediately watch A New Hope afterwards. I will wait to talk about it so everyone has a chance to see it first. Wouldn't want to spoil anything.

Women are funny. Get over it. Every time Amy Schumer talks about her vagina, I lose my shite.

Also, the main character in Rogue One is a total bad arse. Her partner is a man. So there is no anti-man crap. They are just trying to get Women, who are less likely to go and see Star Wars, interested in the film. Don't be a douche. You're being a douche.

Also, just found out the hero in this movie is a woman. So, really, this is just a continuation of Hollywood's anti-man crap, just like Ghostbusters 2.

I didn't know someone could be this retarded.

So, no one can actually answer my question. That would support the notion that Disney has screwed this up. Even the wikipedia entry is ambiguous.

Lucas deserves blame as well. If he hadn't sold out to Disney, this wouldn't be an issue.

Basically, Star Wars is dead. Also, just found out the hero in this movie is a woman. So, really, this is just a continuation of Hollywood's anti-man crap, just like Ghostbusters 2.

I will pass on this movie.

You take yourself way too seriously. The female lead in Episode VII is fricking awesome. Best part of the movie. Well. Right behind Harrison Ford. It's nothing like the Ghostbusters remake, which was terrible.

I watched A New Hope when I got home. It is a great transition and makes the threat in the movie seem more immediate.

It also shows you how easy those slacker rebels had it in A New Hope.

I think what I liked best about this movie was that the universe seemed used. By that I mean, dirt was everywhere. Ships looked like the real, not CGI shiny tools like in the Lucas films prequels. Cybernetics looked awkward and painful. And these rebels knew to shoot first.

The only problem I had was the filmed jumped locations a lot. Someone more into the other Star Wars stuff probably knew those places, but it was not to me.

I liked how this movie also shows how scary the Death Star could be.

And I think this is the first time since I was a kid Darth Vader was scary. I am not sure if kids should go see this, but I thought it was great if you are older.

This Darth Vader didn't seem scary at all to me. Maybe because I was 9, but I was terrified when Vader force-choked the Rebel officer at the start of A New Hope. That guy seemed to ooze evil. This one seemed just more of a caricature of that bad guy.

Having said that, Rogue One is an incredible movie. They did a fantastic job of fitting it into the story line of a New Hope.

I also agree with you that making the world both visually and 'spiritually' dirty was a great decision. I really, really liked how many of the rebels weren't particularly nice people and not everyone working for the empire was a mindless, evil drone.

I've seen all the Star Wars movies several times and while A New Hope will always be special because it was the first (and the Lucas ones will always be crap), IMO Rogue One is far and away the best of them all - including "A New Hope Take 2", otherwise know as The Force Awakens.

I was really confused and borderline angry while watching Rogue One. I thought it was episode 8 and not 3.5. I need to rewatch it in proper context.
