May he rest in peace. LINK

quote:

Cole was mission commander Jimmy Doolittle’s co-pilot in the attack less than five months after the December 1941 Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor.

Stationed in South Carolina, he signed up as a volunteer for a secret mission he knew would be dangerous, but not much else about. They trained at Eglin Air Force to fly B-25 bombers on short takeoffs, in preparation for flying off an aircraft carrier.

My dad is really good friends with his son. He did a hell of a lot more than just the doolittle raid. He has a bunch of great stories

He is the last goblet standing

anniversary is next week, too bad he couldn't have made it a few more days

RIP Dick Cole

Those guys were true American heroes. To depart on a mission they knew there was no ability to return from, is truly selfless service.
