As preface, I'm not a new troll or alt, just a lurker who has spent my message board time mostly with some old friends from the AOL's message boards golden age (1995-09/11/2001), and have posted some on SECFanatics, same screen name. I posted this to my old AOL friends and felt like sharing here.

Our litte friend is of course COVID-19, who I think we should affectionately call Covie.
There are a lot of blamethrowers being fired off right now in virtually every direction about how Covie was let out of his box, and how he was allowed to run amuck around the planet. IMO, it's way to early to make a decent analysis. But based on the very limited preliminary data we have so far, a few thoughts.
For the most part, governments around the world had an ostrich attitude, even though the danger has been known since the 19th century. It was too expensive to extensively plan for such a remote possibility and besides, medical science can whip whatever comes our way.
China and Russia apparently have curb stomped poor Covie. Both countries have a decidedly adverse relationship with truth telling, so it's reasonable to suspect the numbers they report are drastic manipulations or outright lies. They also have tools in their Authoritarian toolbox that Western Democracies do not possess. It won't surprise me that after the dust settles we find out Covie had the last laugh.
Looking at the data, only one large population country has been able to take Covie by the shirttail and tell him to simmer down, and that would be South Korea. They have been deemed the model for the rest of the world to emulate. The consensus is that SK was prepared with testing manufacture and processes ready to go at the first hint of trouble. Large scale testing and tracking this elusive little bastard was the key. Why was SK so prepared when the rest of the world wasn't? I'm guessing that it's because no one else has a psychotic neighbor with biological weapons hell bent on destroying them. This is the first time in history anyone should be wishing for Canadian psychotic moose with bio-weapons on their antlers. If that were the case, things would be much better.
To be ready for the next Covie that comes down the pike, we need to think like Covie. So let's make it a game (and yes I have been playing it). www.ndemiccreations.com/en/22-plague-inc

We all process these events in different ways. My cynicism was born when I broke a half empty glass of milk as a toddler. Therefore I tend to confront depressing topics with dark humor and/or callousness. A trait I know many find inappropriate and/or offensive. Understood, and I apologize, but I gotta be me.
