IDK, I was out on Dickson/downtown this weekend. I'm pretty amazed at how hard Fayetteville goes these days, even over summer break.
It seems we've replaced live music with dance clubs of various types over the past few years, tho.

Ranking of Athens weekends:(has to be yearly, excluding football weekends and special events like concerts and whatnot)
1)Terrapin Twilight Criterium-Hard to describe or do it justice. Just go some year, trust me.
2)Athfest-Outdoor concert festival with no open container on parts of Washington Street. This event varies based on who is playing. Futurebirds a couple years ago melted faces.
3)New Years Eve-typically pretty great, depends heavily on the bar.

IMO Athens has always been really fun. It's never boring when I visit. The only down side to Oxford is when the bars close early. LSU kinda has a weak bar scene but I always have a good time in BR and I know which bars to go to. Bama has a pretty descent bar scene. Basically all these schools are fun it's just what you make of it.

Schools like Alabama, LSU , and ole miss rage the hardest. This is no slight at UGA in terms of how awesome their bar scene is. However, UGA is a bunch of nerds now and I was actually told to turn the music off one night in a fraternity house the night before the ole miss game because the kid next door was trying to sleep. Funny thing is I woke up before that kid did and started tailgating.

I love Bogies that's the bar I'm always going to when I'm in BR. Fred's and JL's can be fun also.
