Do you ever weite down or record anything you experience immediately after DMT? "Some people" forget it within minutes following the trip..

There's a lot to choose from.
I take around .25g - .5g of mushroom honey each morning for visual acuity, creativity/thinking, and a mood boost. I'll seriously trip (also on psilocybin) about every other week or so, and maybe DMT once a month for a real blast off. I'd put in a regimen of LSD in there too, but it isn't always terribly easy to find and I'm too paranoid to synthesize it myself.
Any particular drug you want to hear about?
No, but I probably should. I can acutely remember the visual sensations but some of the uh...intentions? thoughts? directed towards me are difficult to recall.

I remember trying it for the first time. Bought what appeared to be a very small amount from someone for $20 as I was very eager to try it. Packed in a bowl, torched it....and I felt a little light headed. Very disappointing.
A good friend of mine saw this occur. He told me, "Hemp, I don't want that to be your first impression of DMT. Come over to my dorm room and I'll take care of you."
So, I meandered over to ol' John's room and knocked on the door. He looked out furtively, as if someone would actually know what was going on. I stepped inside.
John goes to his dresser and opens a drawer. Inside a rubbery-plastic container, he shows me a gigantic shard of DMT he had made earlier that year. He begins to break it apart on a desk.
After pounding the crystals into a fine dust, he puts a wire screen on his glass bowl and begings to spoon the green powder on top of it. He continues for quite a while, until there is a rather intimidating amount in there.
He opens the dorm window, with me sitting in a chair. He said, "I'm going to torch this, and I don't want you to exhale until I say so."
So I did.
At the moment I blasted off, John had begun to play 'In Memory of Elizabeth Reed' by the Allman Brothers Band. However, I don't remember the opening, sonic waves of violin-like guitar playing that I was so accustomed to.
Instead, I fell face forward into my hands, eyes closed.
I was transported into a sphere. This sphere was strange. It seemed infinitely close, and infinitely far away. It was made of interwoven, pulsating bands of multicolored light. It was simultaneously all colors, and no colors.
In the center, to my great surprise, was a figure that bore a great resemblance to an old-fashioned Olmec head.
I was looking around, trying not to stare at the godhead. The strangest thing was, in my mind, I was sober. There was no changing of thought processes or associations while in this sphere. I was me, HempHead, yet I was in a totally alien place.
I recall the figure trying to relate or speak to me, but I was so utterly in awe and bewildered that I didn't pay attention.
Then, as if awoken, Brother Duane starts his solo on 'Liz Reed and I LEAP from my sedentary trip. I dance all around the room, filled with utter delight and joy, feeling the wave of musical bliss and previous awe wash over me.

I actually liked Joe a lot more back when he would talk about psychedelics more often, but I can understand why he doesn't talk about it much anymore. Personally, I don't feel too comfortable talking about it.
Some people are going to stereotype/demonize you. Plus, I don't really think psychedelics are for everyone, or at least, not for certain people at certain times.

He's had to do a fair amount of adjusting since having a kid and getting married.

Did you feel like you left your physical body? Or it was you (physical you) in the sphere?

There was no sense of physical presence, only the existence of awareness and experience.

Yeah, that too. And I still really like Joe.
I've learned a lot of things, and laughed a lot, listening to his podcast over the years.

I could listen to him and Joey Diaz all day

Was there some sort of transitional phase from physical presence to non-physical presence? I mean, did you ever feel like you left your body? Or have you ever experienced something like that?

Nothing transitional. It was completely instantaneous. So utterly different than any other psychedelic.

Yeah, Joey's hilarious.
By the way, for anyone interested -- Terence Mckenna - DMT, Mathematical Dimensions, Syntax and Death -- McKenna has some fascinating descriptions of psychedelic experiences.

Did you have a feeling of coming back to your body?
