Wasn't it basically a battle of egos between him and the money people as to why he was let go?

Yep. The quote that probably got him fired was, "we have champaign taste with a beer budget."

The other issue is the new management is really into the analytics side of things (money ball) and Lionel wanted nothing of it. A young guy we have working in the analytics department from MIT came to practice one day and told Lionel that he should take a look at how well a certain lineup was doing. Lionel basically told him to F off and get off of his court.

The whole league is going in an analytical direction, especially the small market teams, and Lionel was to old school for that. One of the main reasons I think no one else picked him up after we fired him.

Eh our offense looks the same as it did last year so I'm not that worried yet. Tony still takes bad shots and Mark isn't assertive enough.

When he takes over a game like he did for a stretch last night and the end of the Pistons game it is easy to sit there and think why don't you do this all the damn time please

Awesome grantland article about the Grizz

I understand he loves to involve everyone but if he's on and attacking we are light years better than dribbling a bunch and watching Bayless throw up an off balance fade away.

Yep and I think it make his distributing easier and opens things up for ZBo down low. We run the offense through him a lot of times, which I think makes him want to score less for some reason.

Did Kobe clone himself 5 times 7 years ago and cryogenically freeze each of them? Because that is what the Lakers need walking out of the locker room if they hope to win.
