There are repeated cycles of ice ages that show up in the geological records, he reported, and these include the Solar Retrograde Cycle (every 180 years), the Little Ice Age cycle (every 360 years, related to minimal sunspots), the Milankovitch Cycle (every 11,500 years), and the Orbital Stretch (every 105,000 years). Ice ages can come on rather quickly, he pointed out-- in the last 250,000 years every age began in less than 20 years, going from temperatures we have today to glacial severity. In the latter half, scholar and expert on Sherlock Holmes and Dracula, Leslie S. Klinger celebrated 2018 as the 200th anniversary of the publication of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, and its undeniable status as one of the most influential works of fiction, cutting across the realms of science-fiction, film history, and popular culture. Shelley, at just age 19, along with writers Percy Shelley, Lord Byron, and John Polidori took part in a competition to see who could write the best ghost story, and Frankenstein was born out of this effort. Her novel, Klinger noted, actually explored the theme of personal responsibility and parenting as opposed to the idea of science run amok that most people associate with the story from the various film adaptations.

Ouija, which is a trademarked name is also known as a talking board or spirit board and the device dates back to the 1800s. Interestingly, a 'Witch Board,' produced in 1886, was given to President Grover Cleveland as a wedding gift, she reported. The boards themselves are neutral and have no special powers, she said, but they can serve as a conduit to the user, connecting them with the gifts they already have in communicating with other realms. She countered the notion that evil is associated with the Ouija board. Still, she cautioned that people should use the board respectfully, and be in a neutral or elevated mindset rather than a negative state.

A friend and I got drunk one night and used one. It was about a month after his grandfather passed and his grandmother was convinced he was around because she could smell the distinct scent of his Viceroy cigarettes when she would get ready for bed every night. Anyway, we used to drink beer there in high school and his grandfather would sit and drink a few before heading off to bed. He would always tell us to throw our cans away.
