I use spankings, unapologetically, and even I recognize a far better punishment there would have been to make the kid stand and watch while his brother played the game he could no longer play.
And who knows, maybe that wasnt the first time he had been disciplined for something like this and after other punishments were ineffective came the "whopping" as Adrian called it.

You hit a kid with a stick and it's called a "whipping," but you do it to your boss and all of a sudden it's "aggravated assault."
