Health. His dad had a heart attack young and coaching football contributed.

He must have gotten a bad report on his health because he dropped it immediately. He just handed it over. Very surprised the held it together after such an abrupt change.

Well, he's rich and always said he would retire young. And he did for the most part.

I'd say he retired so suddenly after a short 18-year hitch at OU because his ego isn't preventing him from living the dream.

He was forced out. Spend 5 minutes on Google, and you can find many, many players he brought to Norman AFTER they violently assaulted women.

Pretty much this I would think. Got his national title, tremendously wealthy and why not.

His son is also heading into college. I believe I heard him talking about a recruiting trip they took together.

If true, could you imagine the strain on the coaching staff?
