either way I think the anti jurgy stuff should die down. Its clear he has made great strides with this team and we will only get better. Soon FIFA will pay for their bullshite when we shove our American cocks down their throats and force them to swallow the freedom as we win the world cup

Jurg has -clearly- improved the team. Anyone who says otherwise just hasn't been paying attention.

This is the first time I've ever seen a coalesced TEAM. Not a good player or two, but a team that works together and makes opportunities.

Oh, and I literally had nightmares about last game but I thought about what the players must be feeling. That'd be a really hard locker room to be in after the game.

Also, frick Ronaldo. That guy isn't good for anything with his little "fancy" footwork. Game's caught up to him, and I'm not buying the "knee" problems. The guy just flat out sucks at the international level when he's not surrounded by some of the best players in the world.

Although, after thinking about it, I don't think Ghana has the personnel to beat Portugal to be completely blunt. Pepe will be back for Ghana as well, and it will be an interesting Thursday.

What sucks is that the games are on at the same time.

Crappy way to lose. Bradley was terrible in the midfield again, and gave up the ball that led to the goal. So sick of him. Wondo at least had the presence to hold possession of the ball as long as possible during extra time. Bradley is still trying to thread passes between 3 players, or in the Ghana game sending a harmless cross right to the defense. Just terrible.

Bradley didn't have an absolutely terrible game, but he did have a mediocre game once again. In fact, he's one of the few players who didn't do well. They need to move a more athletic player in that position, because anything beats him just giving up the ball from time to time.

Ronaldo's lack of even attempting to play defense is a liability for Portugal. If you're going to just refuse to defend, you better be scoring goals like a mad man. He's the reason the right flank was open season for us all night. His talent is undeniable, but a little defending would go a long way.

I do think Ghana can beat Portugal but it's certainly not an easy task. Hoping they fight to a hard fought draw and we get through without any drama. I doubt the footballing gods will be that kind or just however.

Honestly, even with the numbers on our side I don't feel good about this World Cup.

It seems tailor made to get our hopes up and dash them.

Although, even though it's 4 years away, the next World Cup will be extremely interesting for us. Our team is good, a bit young in certain areas, but if they progress correctly we should have quite the team going into that year.

I pray that we draw Germany just to put it out of reach.

Germany should want to draw with us.

I agree the next cup should be a good one for us. Our young guys looked amazing yesterday

Given our WC luck I fully expect Ghana to beat Portugal 5-0.

I expect a bit more heartbreak if we bow out. A late Ghana goal to win 3-1 and we lose by one to Germany.

I'm hopeful with both of us needing a draw, our game will be a boring affair with a bunch of kicking it around the midfield. Neither side has much incentive to really attack. I just worry about Ghana. The Portuguese have real issues on the backline and their left flank. Ghana isn't want for pace or athletic ability.

Like I said yesterday: All Ronaldo does is flop and kick set pieces while cherry picking on the other side.

I don't like the guy, and I don't think I'll ever like anything out of Portugal again.

Except their women, they're okay.

I'm bummed I must miss Nederlands v Chile. Even with nothing to play for, both will be happy to go back and forth. I suppose missing Brazil next round is incentive.

Should be able to get out in time to catch the extreme tailend of the Croatia vs Mexico game. Hoping for monster excitement.

Jones doesn't play for Stoke. Cameron and Shea play for Stoke.

You should probably check out Liverpool. Definitely one of the more exciting teams to watch.

Thanks for the correction.

Starting and stopping posts...only leads to chaos and mistakes. Can't believe I did that.

Looks like this thread blew up a bit since I last looked before our game.

I would be OK with invading Ghana if they knock us out for the 3rd straight time.

Lots of curiosity for US games, which is great. Still haven't recovered emotionally from last night.

Tottingham, Manchester City, and Chelsea are my favorite EPL teams to watch.

So is this right?

USA wins = Moves on
USA ties = Moves on
Portugal/Ghana ties = USA moves on regardless of win/lose
USA loses and Portugal wins = USA has 4 goals to play with
USA loses and Ghana wins = USA has 1 goal to play with

ETA-At 5 goals or 2 goals it goes to the 2nd tie breaker which is goals scored.
