I was speaking to the big Germans chasing the smaller quicker Argentines in a rainforest. The game is in Rio...which changes that calculus.

I do think you're under selling Argentina though. They have talent in the attack and have looked organized in the defense since the early going of the tournament. They are obviously deficient relative to the Germans, but so is everyone else really.

Argentina have not looked awesome but no worse than the Germans going into the semis outside of the opening shlacking of Portugal.

Maybe, but I just watched Germany absolutely obliterate the home team in front of 200 million people without breaking a sweat.

Brazil, even with players down has a better defense than Argentina does with their normal crew.

That's if they beat Holland and man, those guys have a specialist in PK's if they need it. Holland is legitimately the only team with the power to even compete with the Germans right now.

And who doesn't want to see a 3rd vs. 4th Argentina - Brazil game?

Brazil were lost on defense yesterday. Marcelo and Luiz were horribly out of position all game. Germans had grass defending them most of the day. Their defense has talent but has looked shakey when they aren't assaulting the opposition. Without Silva, they were just lost. Out of position time and again. Argentina doesn't have the talent but at least stays organized.

The Germans beat down was based on poor tactics by Brazil and capitulation. Why no pace to attack the German high line on defense. Instead pair Hulk and Fred? They didn't bother to press the German mids and left that weak CB combo naked. Make no mistake, Germany played a great game but Brazil were lost out there. Without the talent or tactician to stop the bleeding.

Argentina doesn't have that problem and would give Germany a much better test. I'm concerned with Di Maria still out, but it won't be the abject failure of Brazil.

The Germans are very good, but let's not over inflate then after busting up a broken side.

Really tight first half. Not many chances. Interesting to see who tries to take the game by the horns.

Just got home in time. Luckily the bus driver wanted to watch the game and was speeding like a motherfricker to make sure he got there in time as well.

Definitely looking like a fun game, but I was listening to it on the radio in Spanish and it was kinda meh. Didn't sound too exciting at all.

Very cautious play. No one has really attacked much. Argentina worked the left side of the Holland defense. Holland haven't shown much at all on the attack.

Twitter is complaining about how terrible and boring the game has been.

That's one of the bad things about having a game that goes 7 - 1 and then have a game go 0 - 0 full time. People won't appreciate the art, they just want goals.

Even some British journalists that cover EPL have said it has been terrible.

Can't think why they'd be upset.

Oh I mean they've been overly cautious to a fault. Still more interesting than yesterday in terms of what they're doing.

Not nearly the spectacle.
