If I had to bet my money before the game, I would have said 2-1 Brazil with home court advantage. This was even more shocking than Netherlands Spain game.

I've had Germany all the way since the beginning. If you just look at their lineup, they have a machine for a team. They have great players, and they actually work together. That's usually unbeatable.

7 goals in soccer is probably equivalent to 70 points.

It's like scoring 100 in football.

Agreed about Germany having a great team but I thought the home field advantage (especially for a team like Brazil) could be an X factor. Difficulty of making into even a backup of the Brazilian squad is comparable to winning the lotto. Even the backups are starters at the best European leagues. So I know the talent is there and although they didn't look too good, I thought they could wake up at any minute.

Throughout WC history, European teams have won at Europe and South American teams have won at South America. No European team has ever won the World Cup outside of Europe. Even South Korea went to the Semi-finals in Korea.

Sometimes talent just factors in way, way too much. Losing Neymar hurt, but when you have Lahm, Ozil, Gotze, Kroos, Muller, Klose, Schurrle, Schweinsteiger, Hummels, Neur, Podolski, Mertesacker (although some people say he's not very good) all on the same team it's...it's just unheard of. I probably missed a few good other players, but that has got to be the most solid team in sporting history.

It'll take Super Messi to knock them off.

I have Netherlands beating Argentina. Argentina is like a one man team. But who knows, Messi is so good I wouldn't be surprised if they win.

Messi could shock the world for sure, but the Netherlands has a better shot at Germany than Argentina does.

I think Germany beats Argentina worse than they beat Brazil, honestly.

I think Holland has a chance, but it's slim at best.

Germany still has to play the game, but they have something most teams don't: A great attacking game and a great defense.

This.

Hell, that's why I was hoping USA would sneak past Belgium. Think we could hold our own against the Argentine side. GER will rape them in the Final if they get through, IMO. Maybe not 7-1, but just as dominant.

They really have been the class of the tournament.

Well I think it speaks volumes that even after they threw the kitchen sink at us they could only squeeze in one goal. It's just a shame that Belgium had a cakewalk while we had to fricking fight Satan in hell.

Yup. We're not the best in the world yet, but damn we're improving steadily. Especially considering the Germans REALLY wanted to beat Jurgen. Way more than they let on.

And Belgium can go frick themselves

Although they did win classy.

That's just crazy talk. Argentina haven't looked great but they haven't looked as sloppy as Brazil thus far. The narrative is obvious now, it's Messi's World Cup. Germans are obviously the best squad and a machine. Brazil learned emotion doesn't beat the machine, but creative brilliance certainly might.

The height difference would be staggering though .

I'll be moving during today's match but plan to have a TV on during the whole thing. I've got the Argentines in a 1-0 nailbiter. Dutch may have shot their way against Spain.

Would have been bad if it was against Argentina or the game was a close loss. A loss like this turned to grief and misery long before the final whistle. They were way past the anger stage when it was all over.

The final should obviously be played in the rainforest. Advantage Argentina.

No, sorry man. Argentina wouldn't beat Brazil, and we saw what happened when Germany played them. Not only that, Argentina doesn't have the same kind of team -- they don't have a team at all.

All Germany would have to do is score one and then counterattack (which is their whole method). Argentina doesn't have close to the personnel to be favored ever. Even if it was Germany's second string playing, I'd have trouble betting against them.
