Agreed totally Spleen. It's a night to be proud of America and our soccerball players. We aren't quite there yet. No shame in that. The shame would have been capitulation after the second goal. Instead we kept fighting.

Yup. Never saw 'em quit. Even down 2-0 in ET. That's warrior.
Damn proud

Our defense has been suspect to the counter since qualifying. We need better true marking backs. We play the space well for the most part and our offense is completely better under German.

They did murder us the entire game.
What's the difference if the chances are on breaks or they just get to toy with us as if we're dead mice?
Might as well try to go for goals, because it was inevitable.

You can win or at least get to penalties down one. Down 3-1 is a different animal.

We may be a better team than when we play conservative but we are not a better team than Belgium.
US has come a long way and the future is bright but we still some pieces on the field.

We have to take the water wings off of the defense at some point.

Certainly.
Today it results in a blowout.

Howard made more saves today than any other goalkeeper in the tournament so far.
In all reality, I don't see how it would have made -any- difference.
They could have scored some goals, but if we had actually played numbers forward I think we could have as well (and did at the end of the game, and could have once again, with numbers forward). Howard still made the saves, the only difference is we had no chance early on.

That and when we did in the end did not make the most of them. Dempsey on that free kick should have one touched and not 2. A simple redirect and it would have been 2-2. We did not have the opportunities Belgium did that would allow us to miss the few we did.

To counter effectively and attack you need a strong midfield, and ours has been less than stellar all tournament. As well as jones has played all tournament, he was pretty bad today and Zusi was terrible. Bradley was a little better, then we lost Johnson.
Our midfield played just a litter better than they did against Ghana, when they were dreadful, and we still had a perfect opportunity to put the game away in stoppage time. I'll take that.

Don't you feel, at the very least, that if we had actually tried to put numbers forward we would have had more chances? When we did at the latter end of the game, we held onto the ball. Both before extra time, and in extra time.
It was really the only thing that worked the entire night.

I think we got numbers up and created pressure in the end once Belgium went up 1-0. They almost lost the gamble to sit back and play conservative. Once they went up 2-0 they let us push.
I do believe our only chance to win was to be more aggressive but we play the counter so poorly because we lack the defenders that it is a huge risk. We would either just have to out score them in a very high scoring game or we get run over. Portugal tied us when we pushed with numbers.
Belgium is a legit contender to win the Cup. So I will take the loss and be happy and I think we saw some bright glimpse of the future.

I think we play a lot better when we go through Bradley and let him start the attack. He is a holding midfielder that distributes very well. His play reminds me a lot like Reyna use to play before injuries for the US back in the 90's. Why I never like Mike Bradley(his father) as a coach. Never played through him. We seem to control the ball better with him on the ball and are more patient waiting for the best ball to be played. Where other MF we have rush and rely to much on our athletic ability.
I agree as well on Jones he reminded me of the way Cobi use to play tonight.

Yeah, it's almost as though we were playing to penalties and you just can't do it at this stage. Go for the gusto, you won't get a second chance.

So now that its over for us, where does one go to watch club games?
I know ESPN shows some mls games regularly but what if I want to watch Manchester United or Arsenal?
