Balotelli and Zlatan are at least the entertaining brand of crazy.

But I hate Balotelli. In fact, I may dislike him more than any other soccer player out there.

Barring Ronaldo. But he hardly qualifies as a player. More of a cherry picker who occasionally does well from the benefit of his team.

To be fair, 90% of players are racist by our standards.

What we've learned, Groups C and D.

Group C:

Colombia is for real and going to be a supreme challenge to Brazil's World Cup dreams. They've looked stellar in group play. I don't think anyone wants to see them in the knockout stages.

Greece and their anti-football mean one good game gets them out of groups. Pick up a 0-0 draw because of their lack of any attacking ability, then catch lightning in a bottle to slide through on 4 points. Great...more shitty parking the bus. They get Costa Rica next too and could well find themselves in the quarterfinals. Gross.

Ivory Coast. So much talent. So can't get out of their own way. They had it clinched against Greece but lazy defending at the end left the door open for a weak penalty call. Too bad guys like Yaya and Drogba won't be moving on.

Japan aren't quite there. They have the technical ability but lack the finishing edge. I already miss Honda and they have the best and weirdest fans in the business. They've got a bright footballing future.

Group D:

Costa Rica? CONCACAF proud motherfrickers. This is easily the biggest surprise to get through so far, much less win the group. Wins over powers Italy and Uruguay may not have been the prettiest but they are obviously a very tough out for anyone. Didn't lose a match in a group with England, Italy, and Uruguay. The Ticos taught is its time to take notice in the rise of the other America in soccer.

Uruguay taught us Suarez is one of the five best players on Earth and perhaps the craziest. They get through thanks to lucky breaks against Italy and England being so fricking England. They look the weakest of the South Americans left, mostly because Hannibal Suarez likely will be suspended for his biting problem.

Italy weren't Italy and the mercurial Balotelli isn't the answer at forward. Too inconsistent from one of my favorite sides coming into the tournament. Caught a weak red that likely sunk them against Uruguay, but couldn't manage to put the ball in the net since a fine game against the English. The new positive Italians really weren't all that positive.

England...we learned nothing we didn't already know. England can't get out of their own way on the big stage. Gave away the game against Uruguay. Couldn't hold off an Italian team who didn't score outside of their game (and scored as much as Greece :lol). Then couldn't manage a single goal after their death. Gerrard wasn't ready to be the single holding mid. Rooney for all his talent can't find a natural position in this team. Young and talented, but can't play together.

Today features the two most boring groups in the WC. France and Argentina clearly through, but story lines abound to find who will be each power's respective punching back in the Round of 16.

Swiss most likely get through getting Honduras instead of France for Ecuador.

Nigeria get through with any result. If Iran can slip past Bosnia though, they could make it through on GD if Nigeria catch a beating at the hands of Argentina.

Glad I am too. This turnaround stuff is about to roll, so I have to be here like 12 hours today. Buys me a super short day tomorrow.

Get in the office at 5:15. Roll through the timesheets. Out the door ASAP. The longer I stay, the better the odds I get pulled into something else.

Next week I get to start running my outside crew. Got a 4 guys I get to pull red rice for me at a few different farms so I'll be out in fields starting next week from sun up to sun down. Then once I get off from that I still have to go up to the office and check for notes to see if there where any computer issues then I'll get to go home.

I fear if I do real work I won't be able to hack it.

For two years I've convinced a plethora of students that "talking in a friendly conversation" is more beneficial than teaching grammar ('cause I don't know shite about it).

So far, it's been groundbreaking and extremely easy. They literally pay me to be their friend, and I don't do anything except crack jokes and talk about non-controversial topics.

If I did real work...lord have mercy.

I know it'll be boring -- unless we actually go for the gusto but I like our chances against Belgium. They've shown flashes of brilliance, but they're really not all they're cracked up to be. Took some miracles against real weak teams to get where they are.

I hope it's boring too. Get us through in second place in the much weaker side of the bracket. Pretty much best case scenario. There is no losing and advancing though. I seriously doubt Portugal getting a result against Ghana.

Not a significant one. People have been talkin' bad about Ghana but those guys are -pumped- and playing very well. Their crosses were killing us, and if they had been accurate that score could have been absolutely brutal.

I mean I'd be shocked by a Portugal draw.

After playing in the heat and humidity Sunday, playing Ghana is the last team any team would want to see. Much less one eaten up with injuries. Their pace overall is probably the best in the tournament. Can work the wide spaces well and are dynamic in the open field. Given the space we had to work on the right flank, this match up is HUGE trouble for Portugal. I suspect Ghana wins by at least two goals. A draw is the only realistic path through.
