DAMN I was hoping you weren't lurking when he posted that
But you're right. I broke my own rule and openly rooted for the Mavs that series
Just as I openly rooted for the Heat in '06 against y'all cuz I was mad the Mavs eliminated SA.
Sports are weird

Side note--when was the last time the winner of a Spurs/Lakers series DIDN'T go to the NBA Finals? Seriously every time SA/LA meet up, consider the West won

im pretty sure it has yet to happen
SA went to the finals in 99
LA went to the finals in 01 and 02
SA went to the finals in 03
LA went to the finals in 04 and 08
SA got there this year
thats 7/7 unless im missing a year. and the teams are 6-1 in the finals as well

That's just mind-boggling
Only loss was '04, and that was weird in a way because the Pistons became the first (and to my knowledge, only) team to sweep the middle three games of the finals since it went to a 2-3-2 format.

04 is also incredibly mislabeled as the biggest upset in nba finals history. the fact of the matter is that the 04 laker team was basically the same team as it was in 02 and 03 when malone was injured. gary payton was a shell of himself but the team worked very well with malone healthy. with him hurt, it was the same team that depended on kobe and shaq 100% to generate any type of offense. its a testament to how great kobe and shaq were that we won the title in 02 and got to the finals in 04 when in all reality, those were first round exit teams that had 2 of the 10 GOATS

Yup, totally agree.
That also disrespects just how good that '04 Pistons team was. Shoot, their '05 team should have repeated.

Wasn't that postseason the debut of the be-masked Rip Hamilton? Loved watching him on the Pistons.
I mean, that 5 of Rasheed and Ben Wallace, Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, and Mr. Big Shot Billups doesn't get enough due IMO for how good they were in the middle of the decade. Just a ridiculously good team.
And I never thought I'd see LA get handled like that, tbh. I don't even think the Spurs would have taken them down that year tbh.

That finals was incredibly painful to watch. I'll never forget how hard it was for anybody not named Kobe or Shaq to score. If I remember correctly didn't nobody other than those two score double digits the entire series? Even with our mediocre supporting/bench players that defense was unreal.

quote:i believe it was something like that. to also add on that chauncy billips played out of his mind. it was criminal how he made the once greatest defensive guard in the league look that entire series. just all in all people should have realized that this was an injured laker team who had some very fundamental problems regarding offensive production and depth going up against one of the most deep teams in the history of the nba who played incredible defense.

I just don't see Miami losing tonight
Posted on 5/30/13 at 6:45 pm to WestCoastAg
Put it another way: the heat absolutely cannot afford to lose tonight.
