the combination of the shitty announcers and the refs made that game unbearable to watch at some points.

regardless of who was or wasn't getting calls they killed any flow the game had to it and then you just had to sit there and listen to Van Gundy bitch the whole time play was stopped

Not sure why Spo is playing James Jones over Battier or limiting his rotations to 8 players.

NBA is forcing this to 7 games after last round series sucked so much.

Yeah, I think the refs were bad in game 2 as well.

Whether or not Van Gundy is a little annoying at times, he is right about most of his rants.

Oh, and Mario Chalmers should be fined for his flop last night.

Here's the deal: fines will do NOTHING to curtail the practice of flopping. No matter who you root for, every team does it. The only thing that will stop it is the ability for an official to review foul calls for legitimacy and threaten suspension. That's it. The benefits of flopping (halting opposing momentum, getting key players in foul trouble, slowing down the game, "earning" free trips to the charity stripe, etc.) FAR outstrip the pittance that is the $5k fine.

100

But that's all they can do for now. That shite was ridiculous.

I don't know if it's because Ray Allen is getting older, but that dude was THROWING people around last night coming off of screens and trying to get away from his defender. Many many offensive fouls were missed.

When they showed the replay during the game, it looked like there was contact. The side angle makes it look like a flop, but I'm not that sure. Exaggeration yes, but flop, I'm not sure.

they probably were. have been shitty for both sides it seems like - ruining the flow of play.

and Van Gundy is horrible to whomever said that I would pay a hefty fee to watch TNT crew do the series instead.

Yeah, I mean I saw the contact, but it was a slight graze. So yeah it really was an exaggeration but the reaction in relation to the contact was what I would normally term a flop.

the spurs can't bitch about flopping - even though all teams do it now.

Who makes up the Spurs roster? fricking Eurotrash and South American peeps - aka soccer fans. THEY are responsible for teaching the NBA the art of flopping. Before they came to the league the players were total newbs at flopping. Then the spurs went all anti-american and started doing well and have slowly ruined everything.

I said it, but I would also rather TNT's coverage just for the panel at halftime and pre and post game.

However, why is Van Gundy horrible? I can understand how maybe people find his voice annoying but the dude is right more times than not....

He may be right more times than not - I won't speak to that. But the finals are not the time to stand on your soapbox and bitch about a different rule every 3 minutes of gametime. He also argues stupid points for no reason other than to try and inflate his ego and make sure everyone knows he is right and not the other guy.

An example (from last round because I have started having to turn the volume off during the finals). When they were talking about Oden last round and how at the time of the draft it was a reasonable choice to pick him over Durant. Van Gundy starts ranting about how that isn't how you grade a draft and it doesn't matter because he got hurt and hasn't done shite. While very true, that wasn't the point the guy was trying to make (he was also just trying to make a quick and simple point). VG goes on one of his rants taking up time and just generally being shitty.

ETA: in other words, I wish they would just call the game - make quick commentary and other shite but focus on what is happening now. I'm not tuning in for 3 hours of Van Gundy's musings on the state of the NBA.

The spurs were much worse about it when they had Kurt Thomas.

Splitter and Ginóbili? Who else that plays significant minutes is Eurotrash? Out of those two Ginóbili is the only one that flops anyway. I'm not a Spurs fan, and because I'm a Lakers fan I am normally 100% against them but I really don't see what you're trying to get at here.

I love Van Gundy. Mark Jackson some how got worse in since becoming a HC.

It is still 100% better than listening to Reggie Miller's dumbass during the game.

Maybe so, I'm with you here, unless it is effecting the outcome of the game, then it matters.

I must have missed this rant about Oden, so you may be correct about that.

Last night when he was talking about the shot clock being reset after a jump ball, he was 100% right, and both times he talked about it, the team with possession previously got the ball back and benefited from it. I believe both times it was the Spurs, so it's not like I'm taking up for them.
