I agree but there is no reason to get disrespectful like that and call someone 'son'

No offense, but your black conservative family is a deviation from the norm. I appreciate and respect your outlook, as I do anyone's, but it's the exception. And had social media been around in 2003 I think you'd be singing a different tune.

I don't agree with Obama's response in every instance, but I do think it's short sighted to point the finger at him alone. There's plenty of blame to go around and it started well before 2008.

I've never pointed the finger at Obama alone or intimated that there were no racial tensions before 2008. I'm just saying I believe he greatly exacerbated those tensions and they are far more vitriolic now than before he took office, in my opinion and in my experience.

If I had to bet, I'd say things will only get better moving forward. Especially once all the raping, stealing Mexicans are deported.

No, it'll get worse. Trump's entire campaign fed off the paranoia and angst of the white man that feels his country has been lost to blacks, Hispanics, homosexuals, etc. Those people are are on full display right now in DC, along with a bunch of idiot protesters. Reading Twitter right now is fricking depressing.

Or maybe you were being facetious.

The fact that people on the left really think that's why he won is the reason he'll likely win again in 2020.

Eh, I can only speak from my experience. And most of the folks I know who voted for Trump fit the bill. Either they come across as bigots who don't even realize how ignorant they sound, or they just really hated them some Hillary and would've voted for an AIDS infested needle before they casted their vote to her.

Christmas in Knoxville, TN and then Hornbeck, LA was pretty telling. Although to be fair, it was mostly older folks that really threw me for a loop.

Hopefully we don't actually start deporting folks because the protests and riots will just keep occurring IMO.

And before you call me out, I abstained from voting because the Clintons are terrible representatives for what my party actually stands for.

I never said that's why he won. I said it was a central theme to his campaign.

I don't deny that Trump drew the racist vote, because he did - but those vote (R) every election. However, like the far left, there aren't enough of them to matter in the overall scheme.

Trump won by speaking to the middle class, which has been ignored by both parties for a long time. For all the talk of being a racist, he got more votes from black and hispanic voters than Romney. The guy that said 'build the wall' and 'deport the illegals' got almost 1/3rd of the hispanic vote. Much ado has been made of Trump not winning the popular vote, but what's left out is that without California and New York, he won it by
6 million votes.

The best I've heard it put is that the left (MSM particularly) took Trump literally but not seriously. The voters outside of California and New York took him seriously but not literally. They know he can't do a lot of what he says, but is the only one with the balls to say there are problems.

All of that makes me sound like I'm full on MAGA, but the fact is I didn't vote for Trump in the primaries and held my nose to vote for him in the general. He's a terrible messenger who has spent most of his life supporting people and causes I dislike.

To put the next four years in recruiting terms, Trump has both the highest potential ceiling and lowest potential floor of any president in my lifetime. Despite the currently melting snowflakes, I can see him becoming Reaganesque and uniting the country (except Cali, they're lost forever) by forging pragmatic solutions to a lot of issues - but I can also see him just as easily being noting more than a slogan touting twitter warrior. Only time will tell.
