White China wasn't "White China" until the end of the second World War. Kai Shek used the war against Japan to gobble up the various smaller states existing in China at that time. Despite being Time's "Man of the Year" twice Kai Shek was a lousy general and a poor leader. Mao's generals handed him his butt in short order.

Taiwan, formerly Formosa, was predominantly settled by the natives until Europeans began settling Chinese there. They eventually set up an independent Kingdom that was later annexed by China. Which lasted a short period of time before the Japanese annexed it. It spent more time as Japanese territory than it did Chinese. They weren't fond of being stuck with Kai Shek.

Which is one of their big selling points for independence. They spent almost no time being a Chinese possession.

So. My definition of White China being those Chinese who really need a tan holds true.

White Russia existed only for a handful of years. When Czarist Russia fell the Communists schemed their way into power. The Allies supported "White Russia" a ragtag alliance of monarchists, democrats, and so on that mostly agreed that they hated each other as much as they hated the Commies.

Before that you had Czarist Russia, before that you had the Golden Horde Hegemony lording it over Moskva and Novgorod. To the world's great misfortune Moskva won over Novgorod which is why we have Authoritarian Russia instead of Democratic Russia.

Therefore I humbly submit that White Russia refers to the Europeans who are exceedingly white, drunken, racist, dictator loving white trash. Siberian Russia can be those areas settled primarily by native Siberians who tend to look like... White China.

Contemporary European Politics is an interesting book about Europe after the USSR.

Russia went full revolution Marxism while modern Europe seems to be going at it in stages.

In addition to books I'd suggest watching some movies from that era, European ones, not American. World War I effectively destroyed Europe. World War II dug up the body and desecrated it. Movies reflected that and still do. European cinema has only recently started getting hopeful.

All of which sped up social safety nets. The Europeans had been through not one, but two generations of hell. There were no European winners when you get down to it. They'd sacrificed everything during the wars and damn it they were going to get the government working for them for once.

Europe focused on "don't let things get worse" and set up their social systems accordingly. The US and the Soviets swung for the fences, Europe settled for reliably grinding out singles and doubles.

You can make a strong argument that the heyday of the Socialists in Europe has passed. Things we would consider utter Marxism (government health care, first championed in the US by noted Communist Teddy Roosevelt... that is a joke folks. Teddy hated Commies with a passion.) have been there for so long that they are the moderate position.

As to white and red it is a simplified view of pre communist societies as the new loved the color red for some reason and the color white is the absence of color. Latin is Roman yet Latino is accepted as a culture. Rulers is Spain were light skinned like the other European nobles.

The Norse are blond hair and blue eyed yet that is how Hitler viewed the Ayrans even tho they had dark eyes, dark hair, and olive skin. Hinduism is the most tolerant major faith as that as how the combined culture of the Ayrans from the North and the Africans form the South combined to create what we now call India.
