Working downtown in Nashville is going to complicate things a lot for you I'm afraid.

I'm coming to that realization. Nothing is set in stone yet, though. I'm thinking a talk with corporate is in order. IMO an office downtown isn't necessary. I'd rather it be in Brentwood or Franklin.

The traffic is a nightmare everywhere. It sounds like he can’t afford anything south. Donelson, Hendersonville, Mount Juliet, Gallaton, Bellevue all good options.

You don't need to. It's suburban Nashville, not Baton Rouge.

Suburban Nashville schools are dog shite. Any public school in Davidson Co is horrible. One county over, Williamson, are some of the best public schools in the country.

Go just a little further south from Franklin to Spring Hill or Thompson's Station.

this, but both are experiencing the "south of Nashville" price increases.

Williamson County has great schools and there is tons of new construction in places like Nolensville, Spring Hill and Thompson's Station.

Do you know where your office will be? Are you concerned with commutes?

Not sure yet. I'm going to lobby for Franklin or Brentwood though. I've had long commutes for a while now, and while I'm used to it, I'm really getting sick of it.

I commute to Brentwood and while getting their from the city isn't bad, it isn't ideal going home.

Well, Nashville might not be for you. It's only getting worse here. I would keep that in mind when you figure out your office situation.

Nashville is a great town, but wouldn't want to do it with kids and your situation. See if corporate would locate office outside of downtown and get out a bit.

Suburban Nashville has some fantastic schools. I think you're confused about what suburbs are, since you listed suburban Williamson county as an ideal location.

This isn't exactly true, either, as two of the top three high schools in TN are public magnets in Davidson County. Not that he would want to live there, but if he did, there are public options.

And #4 and #5 sit two miles or less outside the city limits, so you barely cross two county lines to find other suburban elites.

Williamson co isn’t suburban Nashville, I know. I mentioned those because he mentioned his job could be in Brentwood.

And magnet schools don’t really count considering not everyone can get into one. Every other school in Davidson co isn’t worth sending your kid to, for a lot of reasons. I’be lived here my entire life.

What are 4 and 5? I haven’t googled. I do know 3 of the top 5 in the past were magnet.

ETA I just googled. Assuming we are looking at the same list, Hendersonville and Brentwood high are further from the city limits than 2 miles. BH is Williamson county actually, right? It’s on that side of I65.

If you live on the Davidson co side of Brentwood, his kids will be zoned for Overton. Not so ideal.

It’s bad, but not even close to Atlanta.

I love the idea of Hendersonville. It reminds me of “Silvertown” from Joe Dirt the way people talk about it . The commute to the office (wherever that is) and the hunting land in Columbia would be what held me back.

You’re the first person I’ve heard say anything overtly negative about Hendersonville.

Ive spent a lot of time there bc I have family there. Neighboorhoods are good around the river, but the city is run down. It's nothing compared to Franklin, etc. Schools aren't inner city bad, but I wouldn't live there bc of the schools. There are better options than Hendersonville to me, but what matters to me you might not care one way or the other about. Its a depressing city compared to so many cities in the metro area.

You wouldn't live there because it has the 4th best high school in Tennessee?

It's safe to say you're clueless.
