Mornin’ Ralph... Mornin’ Sam

I was headed to the airport this morning and was just pondering the similarities of our presence on this website to this old cartoon... sheep dog and coyote clocking in and out of work, hating each other and trying to kill each other while they’re clocked in, and pals when they’re clocked out.
I feel like the SEC Rant is my “clocked in.” I’m not gonna lie, the persona gets tiresome during football season. While fun at times, keeping up the persona requires effort. I always look forward to football season, but I have found myself not looking forward to “clocking in” when the season rolls around.
Pretending to hate Auburn fans, setting alarms to start threads, starting threads to rile up the masses of LSU fans and watch the world burn, selectively choosing arbitrary stats to spotlight while driving home an inconsequential talking point.
I’ve spent a lot of time developing that character, much in the way professional wrestlers do. But lately I’ve found myself growing tired of it.
Meh.

Wow, some insight into a bama poster. Some of us fight just to stay relevant.

Nice analogy, but you can tell what posters are not clocked in but being themselves, and those ones scare the hell out of me...

Kill it. With fire (aka pron bomb)!
Or like every great wrestler, switch from hero to heel or from heel to hero. Depends on how you view yourself.

Hmmmmm.
Insight?
I am still very suspicious.
Will keep an eye on you.

What happens if you’re both, depending on the audience?

Either you're having an existential crisis brought on by coming down off whatever psychedelics you took to watch fireworks tonight, or this itself is actually an elaborate part of your character development.

That's going to take some special kind of work. Stop posting about Bama football and start posting incessantly about secondary sports that nobody else knows about. Should confuse everybody equally.

I can relate. I have been on here 5+ years and am starting to become friends with some of the people who I initially didn't get along with. I will rattle some cages here or there, but getting tired of the intensely negative posters. I might come off like an ahole at times, but that's more because the other side of the internet is an idiot. Discussion on tRant has been pretty bad lately and I have found myself to stray away and try to be more friendly. I have also really learning about other sports besides football.

It happens to us all eventually. I used to pride myself on maintaining a consistent level of jackassery but I have to admit the last year or two of Arkansas athletics has sadly turned that to lingering apathy highlighted by brief moments of existential dread and hatred for the entire world.
I suggest taking a vacation from being the Tuscaloosa character. To continue the pro wrestling analogy do an injury angle and you can take some time off and relax by just being you. That way you'll be fresh to do your big run in the first time someone has a huge letdown in a game and lay them out with a foreign object before cutting your big "I'm back" promo on the house mike.

How do you use a time card to clock in?

I agree with truth87. I started out having fun and arguing and trolling every fan I could. Now I have come to enjoy Arkansas fans, LSU fans, USC fans, and even a few bammers.
I still have not found a leghumper that I enjoy but LewDog is earning his stripes. He seems like good folk.

After a little while it quickly becomes clear who is good for banter and fricking around and who the legitimate retards are. OTBallers are the former.

Don't feel bad, even the strongest most positive people wouldn't be able to withstand that emotional torture. It truly is Arkansad rn.

Yep, I always look at Vecchio Cane like a pro rasslin' persona.

Oh lort! But you are correct. It would've been so much better if one of the 3 stooges caught that fn baseball.

At least they never had the ball in their glove

Maybe it's time for a Heel turn? You've worked really hard to become a Face.

It’ll be a hard angle to work either way I think.
This part of Arksulli’s post pinged me. May be onto something.
