Uber is good in St. Louis.

Another cool (and free) place is the Laumeier Sculpture Park. Nice place to walk around if it's not too hot. St. Louis Botanical Gardens are also good.

The street itself is fine, just dont walk off of it at night though. dead serious.

Uber, taxis here are steep. uber is about 40% of the taxi fare.

If you're going to pappys, stop by the brewery opening up right next to it. it supposed to be pretty neat.

Assuming your on Wash Ave downtown (Marriott?). Rooster is great for brunch and Sugarfire is badass BBQ.

This. Go North from Washington Ave at your own peril. The near north side from downtown past forest park holds some of the most dangerous neighborhoods in St Louis.

As a General rule you should be fine if you just stay south.

Haven't seen anyone mention Soulard to you yet. Check out the Soulard neighborhood while you are here.

Soulard is amazing, wake up early on a saturday and go to soulard market.

Soulard is a roughly 10 x 10 block old french style neighborhood(minutes from downtown). Full of bars and small shops. Soulard is also the home to our Mardi Gras, some bars look just like bars you would find in the french quarters.

Cool restaurants/bars there:
Mollys - college bar on weekends
mcgurk's - also college bar on weekends, amazing irish music on weekends tho, awesome place.
Hammerstones
1860s - live music
joanies
chavas mexican- my favorite place in soulard
mission taco
Bogarts- visiting sports teams always eat here

I would say if the weather is nice you can walk around the Central West End area as well. It's where all the oldest homes/coolest architecture is, and there are some great restaurants as well. Taste and Dressels being two.

It's at the very east end of Forest Park and the west end of St. Louis University. There is also a cigar bar there called Brennan's which is a favorite.

Get shot
Go to the Hill
Yell Cards suck
Visit U City and the Lunatics
Go find Vashon and tell them you think Trump is awesome.

You figure out which one is legit.

Don't go to the Landing. Don't go north.

St. Louis Art Museum is good.

The Loop in U-City is a fun option. Sweetie Pies (soul food), Blueberry Hill (Chuck Berry's joint), a Greek tapas place (whose name escapes me) and Fitz's (a comfort food joint/root beer microbrewery) are choices there.

Central West End is fun.
There's literally a half dozen areas of town you could spend your day in. I took my daughter to Mission Taco and then Jeni's ice cream (but that may not be special to a southerner) a couple of weeks ago in the Central West End. St Louis Southern (southern style fried chicken) is right next to Pappy's and on the edge of the CWE. The Cup - a great little cupcake shop is there in the CWE as is the Crepery.

The Botanicals gardens followed by dinner on the Hill would be a good way to spend some time.

Or you could do Vin Du Set or 1111 Mississippi followed by the Chocolate Bar or Clementines - both dessert ways to get drunk.

Just always be aware of your surroundings. Wash Ave itself is usually ok but it's not like the County.

Pretty rough crowd most nights. I think they have a 2nd location in the Delmar Loop, which is another good place to check out. The dad of the family that owns/runs it was (treading lightly) allegedly the head of the mafia in St. Louis (Trupiano). Though, I don't imagine that it consisted of more than a handful of guys in its hay day way back when.

You'll see all sorts there. Chuck Berry's Blueberry Hill is there, though not necessarily a favorite of mine.

Agreed. If I'm gonna hit up a Soulard dive bar, it's gonna be DB's.

ETA: the Ballpark Village means you don't have to walk to Soulard to get robbed after the game. You can get robbed conveniently right next to the ballpark.

I like to catch Kim Massie and the Soul Senders at 10 PM at the Beale on Broadway. Keyboard player is fire.

WE usually do two trips a year to St. Louis to see friends up there. Heading up Wednesday to catch Cards vs. Rockies. Friend says she has good seats for our family. We'll do Science Center, City Museum, and probably hang out at a pool. Food and drink wise, we'll definitely do Urban Chestnut. We will also probably do Olio. We also have reservations at Nixta, which is supposedly really good. Might also hit up Cherokee street for either pho or tacos. Might try to hit Square One brewery, since I haven't gone there yet.. and I usually try to hit Side Project at least once as well.
