I love the college town feel of Conway, but I love college towns. Conway was perfect for me since LR was so close, and there are some extremely nice areas in Conway, as well.

Isn't Conway dry?

Technically, it is, but restaurants sell alcohol.
This really wasn't much of a concern for me; I grew up in a "dry" county and was used to driving a few miles to purchase alcohol. When I lived in Conway, we just went to Maumelle or Morgan when we needed it. You just gotta plan ahead.
If we wanted to go out, we just went to LR & stayed with friends or got a hotel room. Fun times.
