Here are a few.

And you're right on. Many around the world feel the same about the American flag as some folks do about one of the confederate battle flags.

Just give me another reason why the CSA was founded at the exact moment an abolitionist was elected President

That and I can understand why someone could be offended by what that flag is a symbol of. It's not that I'm not proud to be from the South, but I show it in other ways.

You're the bigger man.

Being offended is a profession today, just ease around it and let them be.

Well, that's why I don't usually wear an American flag t-shirt when I go out of the country. It wouldn't be smart and might give off the wrong impression. It might even put me in danger. You see where I'm going here?

Look just because you read some revisionist literature (Probably by James Ronald Kennedy) doesn't mean you've been enlightened about history.

You're as bad as the liberals who act like Howard Zinn is gospel

Exactly. If you took one of the other "Confederate" flags and put it on that license plate, we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

I guess you believe world terrorism is the sole reason we invaded Iraq.

Countries don't break apart and go to war for singular reasons.

I'm not advocating flying the flag. I've stated the opposite.

The assumption of racism at the sign of the symbol is another matter though.

Pretty much this

Good post.

Personally IDGAF what flag anyone flies. But don't play dumb and think that the stars/bars doesn't have divisive connotations.

Yeah you can make that argument about many flags, but guess what? We're in America talking about an uprising that nearly tore the country asunder over (yes) state's rights.......TO CONTACT BUSINESS AS THEY SAW FIT. And the business that the South hang it's hat on as a region was built on the backs of slavery.

The shame of it is, I actually find the Confederate flag aesthetically pleasing

Would rather fly a Texan or American flag though.

They do if that singular reason would cripple them economically and ruin the only way of life they've ever known.

To say a war is fought over one single issue makes you look foolish.. It just does.

Over a quarter million Southerners didn't go die for slavery.. Most of them couldn't afford slaves and didn't give a shite... They fought back cause their home was invaded.

Yes, absolutely.

Although I'm sure there will be racist quotes from Lincoln incoming in some attempt to zing me. Especially the ones where he is speculating on how to solve the problem. In some lame attempt to zing me.

God damn you frickers and your apologists.

FYI I hate Lincoln. Terrible president. But he was an abolitionist.

Good posts by you and Duke.

Does anyone feel like the Confederate flag and the Don't Tread on Me Flag mean the same thing but the latter doesn't have the racist overtone?
